I've got awful hives and was prescribed prednisone today to help with itching and swelling. So far it hasn't helped - how long does it take to work?
Depends: On the hives, prednisone dose, other medications you are on, the cause for the hives, if any. Antihistamine: Unless you have respiratory problem or going into shock, Epinephrine is not that usual treatment. Try taking antihistamine up to 4 times per day and see if this helps.
