Fungal infection: Toenail fungus is an infection of the bed and plate underlying the surface of the nail. You should treat toenail fungus as soon as it appears. Yellow toenails are a side effect of the presence of toenail fungus. My big toenail is yellow just at the top. how long does it take for it to get completely better when using something like curanail to treat it?

It REALLY varies...: If the Curanail works how it is supposed to, and the "infected" portion is as you describe, it could still take 2-3 months for the nail to grow out enough to be "better." The problem is that Curanail is just one of the many topical over-the-counter products that may not be as effective as advertised. If it works - good for you! If not, see a doctor for something with a more proven track record. ...Read more

I have a fungus on my large toenail. The corners and very thick, crumbly and almost yellow. Is this cause for concern, besides cosmetic?

Not usually: For most patients, nail fungus is primarily a cosmetic issue. Some people, like those with diabetes, it can lead to bigger health problems. If the problem is very limited, topical treatments may still work. If the nail is affected to the very base, treatments become more involved. ...Read more

My toenail got ripped off and grew back short thick & yellow. What's a working cream or medicine to use for over the counter? Most effecting please!!!

The problem here: Is you need to know if the toenail became fungal or if that nail is thick for other reasons..I.e bacterial colonization or subungual keratinazation. A thick yellow stubby nail is not always fungal. Topical meds for fungus are not highly effective either. If your inclined to try one you can but you will be applying for many months duration & 1 is not necessarily better than others. ...Read more

How can I get rid of this yellow fungus on my toenail without a prescription?

How can I get rid of this yellow fungus on my toenail without a prescription?

Maybe?: The reason you hear so many different treatments for toenail fungus is because there is no perfect, sure-fire treatment that works 100% of the time. I've seen vaporub work, as well as other natural oil remedies, but rarely. You can also try laser therapy, antifungal creams, paints, or even oral medications if your doctor deems you healthy enough to take them. ...Read more
