My son is scared to go to the dentist to get a cavity filled because of the novacaine shot. Is there another way?

My son is scared to go to the dentist to get a cavity filled because of the novacaine shot. Is there another way?

Absolutely: The filling may be so small that a novocaine injection is not needed. In addition, most offices offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) which will allow the dentist to perform the procedure with no anxiety on your son's part. As a very, very, last resort, sedation can be used. A pediatric dentist may be better for him if he is really that apprehensive. ...Read more

Read article today saying courts have confirmed MMR and autism link. My son is getting ready to get his 1 year shots! what do I do? Help!

Is fever after every vaccintaion normal? Does it signal a weak immune system? I'm concerned because my son always seems to get one after a shot.

Is fever after every vaccintaion normal? Does it signal a weak immune system? I'm concerned because my son always seems to get one after a shot.

Depends on vaccine: Not all vaccines cause fever, some more likely than others. For example the Dtap vaccine and the VZV and MMR vaccines which are live vaccines are more likely to have a fever associated with them. It does not signal a weak immune system, in fact it most likely means the pt's immune response to the vaccine is good. Treat the fever for its uncomfortable symptoms. ...Read more
