Retina issue: It seems like you have some retina issue which involves your macula. The cotton wool changes could happen from ischemia to the nerve fiber layer of the retina. The causes are from high blood pressure or other vascular problems(inflammation, or infection. Please see a retina specialist for further diagnosis test and exam.

I have poor eyesight of about -7, and my cornea thickness is 535. What should I do to cure my eyes? Any treatment or surgery?

No Disease: You are a 7 diopter myope and i assume that yiur vision is correctable to normal levels with glasses. Your options include wearing glasses, wearing contact lenses or refractive surgery. Your cornea is of normal thickness and should not impose a deterrent to refractive surgery.

Is there a way to improve eye sight without surgery?

Depends on cause: Obvious ways without surgery are contacts and glasses. Importantly, be sure nutritional conditions are met. Common reasons for blurry vision include dryness and some medications. "lazy eye" (amblyopia) generally can not be improved once a person is older than about 10 years of age.

Does laser eye surgery really improve eyesight?

Does laser eye surgery really improve eyesight?

Yes: Lasers are tools that your eye surgeon uses to treat many different eye problems. Laser done for nearsightedness and farsightedness should reduce your dependency on glasses or contact lenses. Laser eye surgery for glaucoma and retinal diseases is needed to stabilize and prevent deterioration of your ocular health.

How old should you be before you have eye surgery (to correct your eye sight)?

18 or older: Laser vision correction (lasik) is the most common surgery to correct vision. It is approved by the fda for treatment on those who are 18 or over. The reasoning behind this cutoff is that the eye's shape and therefore prescription continue to change until one is about 18. For this reason age and prescription stability are both important prior to having lasik.

Could our original eye sight power to be restored after the lasik surgery ( maybe in a 1 or 2 year time). What are the probabilities ?

Could our original eye sight power to be restored after the lasik surgery ( maybe in a 1 or 2 year time). What are the probabilities ?

Depends: Do you mean to regain your pre- lasik correction (refractive power)? Lasik corrects your refractive error by ablating the corneal tissue. The tissue is removed you can not add it back. If its over or under corrected then the person can have enhancement to correct the residual problem if there is enough corneal thickness. .

Would laser eye surgery help improve the eyesight of somebody with a nystagmus problem?

Possibly not: If the lowered vision is in part due to a refractive error, than lasik will improve that portion of the vision. So if glasses help the vision, then lasik will help to that degree. If the lowered vision is from nystagmus, lasik will not alter that eye movement and the vision will remained lowered. It is a combination of the two. Also, if the nystagmus is not controlled, lasik can't be done.

Can eye surgery to improve your eyesight also prevent other eye disorders like glaucoma?

Can eye surgery to improve your eyesight also prevent other eye disorders like glaucoma?

Not really : If you are referring to LASIK, no. This procedure does not prevent glaucoma. If you are referring to cataract surgery, there are times that the intraocular pressure is sufficiently better to help protect the optic nerve. Also, the angle configuration of the eye may be substantially improved to help protect against acute glaucoma. But these don't necessarily prevent glaucoma.

If you already have good eyesight but you get lasik eye surgery, might your sight become even better?

If you already have good eyesight but you get lasik eye surgery, might your sight become even better?

No: Lasik corrects a "error" in your visual system such as near or farsightedness---if you have none of these, then there really is no reason for surgeon since there is nothing to improve.

I have astigmatism and im 19 years old and have weak eye sight since I was 13 years. Is laser surgery possible?

I have astigmatism and im 19 years old and have weak eye sight since I was 13 years. Is laser surgery possible?

Possible: Nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can all be treated with laser vision correction (lasik, prk, lasek). The important question to answer is: how well can your eye see with contacts or glasses? Lasik can allow you to see without glasses what you did with your best lenses. If you had weak vision even with lenses, lasik will not improve it. A lasik doctor can let you know for sure.

I had lasik eye surgery 6 years back. Now my eye sight again become weak. Is it possible to cure my eye sight again with lasik eye surgery

Often: You no doubt have had an increase in myopia since the procedure which we call regression. Further lasik can be done ( termed enhancement) provided your cornea is thick enough. You should if possible go back to the original surgeon who did your eyes and discuss this.

Hi docs, would exercising my eyes improve my eye sight a bit?

Not likely: Is your eye sight not good from uncorrected vision that would be clear with proper glasses or contacts? Or because of some disease process which needs treatment? Or is it some permanent process? Best to have an ophthalmologist evaluate you and see if any of these are operative. You cannot improve eyesight by so called "natural" means including exercises.
