Another: 2-4 weeks at least. Bone "bruises" (Periosteal hematoma ) are notorious for prolonged disability. This is a collection of blood (now clotted) UNDER the LINING of the BONE ITSELF!! The CIRCULATION is LIMITED in that area. ACTIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY along with DEEP HEAT and ULTRASOUND treatments is INDICATED and will diminish the time for recovery Hope this is helpful! Rest: 4 weeks may not be enough time for complete healing before starting therapy. 6-8 wks is typically the amount of time it takes to heal a sprain if immobilized. Even with complete healing, scar tissue develops and can contribute to swelling on and off for months during rehab. Check with your physician in person for proper rehabilitation! ...Read more
