Review records: Its hard to answer that question without reviewing records. Most hernia repair are done without complications. The ovary is push back into position and the hernia is repaired. In some cases if there were any complications, i.e. surgeon was unable to reduce a strangulated ovary, it would need to be removed. Why?: You are describing fibular hemimelia or congenitally absent fibulae. This is not a life threatening condition, just a limb growth problem. Why would you terminate an otherwise normal child just because he/she won't have normal legs? There have been numerous olympians who have had this condition and competed on the highest level.
