How can I get my infant to stop crying whenever I put him down?

How can I get my infant to stop crying whenever I put him down?

It's OK to let cry.: If there is no other reason for the crying that needs to be treated, then it is definitely ok, and actually recommended to let him cry. You are the parent, and your child needs to learn at an early age that he cannot manipulate you. Trust me, you will be much happier in the long run, and your child will be better able to adapt to different situations. ...Read more

My 4 month old baby gets histerical once I put his infant carrier in the car. He won't stop crying turning blue and shaking. What should I do ?

Keep him safe in car: At four months he is too young for a real temper tantrum. While he may get agitated by the car seat's restrictive environment, his safety in the car is paramount for him to be transported in any other way in the car. You may want to have someone else sit beside him not to make him so lonely. ...Read more

Does the crying of circumcision cause brain damage to infants?

Does the crying of circumcision cause brain damage to infants?

You're kidding right: I've heard some interesting myths proposed by the anti-circumcision crowd, but this one is bizarre. The effect on infants does cause diminished activity and feeding aggressiveness for a few hours before it reverts to normal. There are no other behavioral effects of note. There is no evidence to support the myth. ...Read more

Controller med: Your baby does need to be seen by a specialist. Wheezing at this age may be due to a number of conditions. Crying and increased respiratory effort may be the result of the asthma. By : By the date of this post about 4 days has gone by, so hopefully you have made contact with the doctor and your baby is better by now. For the future, and for others reading this post, if your baby seems very irritable and uncomfortable, and your instinct tells you that something is wrong you should contact your doctor. A phone call to the doctor's office after hours will put you through to a nurse or on call doctor. They will ask you a series of questions and advise you on the next best course of action (er visit or next day doctor's appointment). Take good care. ...Read more

We have a month old infant who is gassy. We do our best to aggresively make him burp but within an hour after feed, he gets up crying from gas pain. Are there any other remedies?

Some possibilities: Babies swallow air- when they eat, suck or cry. During feedings, try to burp him in between every ounce, or between nursing on each side. Hold him upright (on your shoulder) for 15-20 minutes after feedings to help allow the air to rise up and escape, and not get trapped under the milk. Try a lactose free formula. Try simethicone (gas drops for infants). Check with your doctor if this continues. ...Read more

Infant constipation: One month old infant on formula sometimes has constipation. Add a teaspoon of 100% prune juice once a day would help. Lactulose 10g/15 ml could help too. Dose is 2.5 ML to 10 Ml a day by mouth ( you can put in the infant formula and give it to the baby. Try prune juice first. Good luck !!! ...Read more

Sleep disturbance: Children's brains remain very active during their sleep cycles and it is theorized that when in dreams they unaware it's a dream - more real to them. Many children can have variations of these night time awakenings and often appear awake when they are not. Stressful for the adult but most children wake up refreshed.
