How can I get my baby to sleep at night instead of during the day?

How can I get my baby to sleep at night instead of during the day?

Limit length of naps: Your baby has one period of deep restorative sleep per day & you can push it into the night if you avoid long day naps. Waking baby during the day to feed after a 2 hr nap, and keeping it up for at least 5 min if unintrested will teach babies internal clock to get its best sleep at night. Even if up a lot the night before, don't allow > 3 hr naps. ...Read more

My 6wk baby is very clingy. During the day I use a sling but at night i want to sleep. Suggestion?

My 6wk baby is very clingy. During the day I use a sling but at night i want to sleep. Suggestion?

New plan needed: Using a sling all day essentially returns baby to the movements and closeness of the womb.Separation at night is a dramatic change. The reaction is expected. Begin gradually placing baby in the crib for longer periods between feedings so baby accepts it as a safe place. The sling is fine for temporary transport but i would retire it as an all day placement. ...Read more

My baby is we days old, sleeps during day and wakes during night . how to make him sleep at night and awake during day?

My baby is we days old, sleeps during day and wakes during night . how to make him sleep at night and awake during day?

You can't, but you : can promote sleep consolidation at night between 1-4 months. Put him on his back in his crib with no loose bedding or items when he is drowsy, but awake to learn to self-calm to sleep. Babies cry out during light sleep; it's easier to wait till he's fully awake before feeding if you put him in his own room. See tips on healthy children.org. Play during daylight; minimize interaction at night. ...Read more

Growth spurt?: It is a known fact that babies have growth spurts at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months. However this baby is drinking less during the day, so probably is drinking same in 24 hr period but has learned to wake up at night and drink more then. Babies around 4 months should be able to sleep for 5-6 hrs straight at night. Need to start considering "ferberizing" at night. ...Read more

My baby is 8mnths, suffering discontinus sleep pattern, 2-3hrs max by night, light sleep during the day. Please advice?

Poor sleep pattern: Your child may be teething and the pain is waking him up. When going to bed let him suck on a cold rag or other cold substance. When he wakes in the middle of the night, go to him, see if he is ok but do not pick him up. Over a few nights his sleep pattern should improve. As a last resort you can give him tylenol or Ibuprofen at bed time. ...Read more

My month old baby is healthy and growing healthy how much should he eat during the day if he is sleeping through night? Should I wake him?

Sleep consolidation: achieved between 1-4 mos. prevents behavioral sleep problems at 6 mos. & older. If he's gaining 2/3 o.-1 oz./ day, put him on his back in his crib in his own room, drowsy, but awake, to self-calm for sleep. It's not too early to set a bedtime, read, rock or cuddle in low light & wipe out his mouth with a soft cloth after his last feed, good habits to establish before 5 mos. when teeth erupt. ...Read more
