Hardly slept at a for more than a week. Tried, valerian root, melatonin, kava, motrinpm, ambien, and xanax (alprazolam). Xanax (alprazolam) helped two nights but does not work now.Also tried relaxation techniques suggested.Help?

So try them for yourself. I read Moby Dick every night for many months and fell asleep each night after two pages. Choose music that doesn't engage you too much, like ambient or mild classical.
