What can I use besides pulmicort and asthavent pumps to get rid of my phlegmy cough, runny nose and weezy chest? cough medicines are doing nothing

Depends: If you have asthma, daily use of Pulmicort may help but even then takes about 2 -3 wks to find out. Asthavent would be for as needed use. If you have runny nose, you will need a nasal steroid. We need to rule out other causes of cough as well including sinusitis. Perhaps it is time for you to consult an allergist. ...Read more

My 7 week baby fights when she is feeding by bottle. I am using my pumped milk or optimal. Tried to change bottles and nipples did't work?

Breast/bottle : This is not unusual. You may find that she will take the bottle more readily from someone else than from you. Let daddy or grandmother try! when she smells your milk, and you are giving her a bottle, she gets confused. Don't worry. Most babies will take a bottle when they are hungry enough and the breast is not available. ...Read more

I have very big nipple. It makes latching difficult. Baby feeds over an hour then wakes up soon to feed. Milk is enough (4 oz) when pump. Pacifier?

I have very big nipple. It makes latching difficult. Baby feeds over an hour then wakes up soon to feed. Milk is enough (4 oz) when pump. Pacifier?

Work on feeds: More than 10 minutes on a side will only gain baby 5% more milk, so if baby stays this long it may delay movement of milk forward. I would not feed baby any sooner than 2 hours from the last feed & not assume that their sucking behavior is hunger. Br is feeding + pleasure of lip stimulation + nurturing.Other forms of oral stimulation like a pacifier can help. ...Read more

Find support: Have you talked with your delivery team? Obgyns, midwives, doulas are all great sources of guidance and support. There are usually local breast-feeding groups that can be helpful with all sorts of new baby concerns. You can find friends and share both ideas and efforts. There are a few in franklin, tn. Less personal, but maybe enough - a druggist might have over-the-counter creams. Enjoy the baby! ...Read more

2 months baby strongly refuses to breastfeed, she only accepts when i pump. Its breaking my heart. Is it safe if i put honey on my nipples for her?

No, ma'am: Honey increases risk of infant botulism. It takes a stronger "pull" to nurse than to suck from a bottle. Call the nursery nurses at your delivery hospital for the names of lactation consultants who can help you. Put baby to breast when she's not starving. Relax in a rocker, use a boppie @ hold her " en face", looking at you with her cheek on your breast, while you talk & mimic her good & coos. ...Read more
