Ginger (Definition)

Human studies suggests that 1g daily of ginger may be effective for nausea and vomiting in pregnant women when used for short periods (no longer than 4 days). Can blackstrap molasses make you feel better if you have drug-induced hemolytic anemia but your iron panel (ferritin, tibc, tsi, si) were all normal?

Can blackstrap molasses make you feel better if you have drug-induced hemolytic anemia but your iron panel (ferritin, tibc, tsi, si) were all normal?

Forgive my candor: Blackstrap molasses is an antique health fraud which despite what others may tell contains only small amounts of vitamins, and acquires most of its mineral content from the machinery in which it was processed. Didn't take levothyroxine 50mcg today because i don't have anymore pills but i've noticed that i feel better than when i took them but iron is now low?

No relation: Missing one day of levothyroxine 50 mcg doesn't make much difference. Your low iron has no relation of missing a dose. This is an incidental finding which needs to be investigated by your doctor. ...Read more

Is it possible that I feel better after only one day of taking an iron supplement?

Maybe: A one-day turnaround seems pretty quick. But it also feels good to know what your diagnosis is (anemia), and to be working towards feeling better by taking iron if that's what you need. Lot of improvement can come from positive expectation also -- work with it! and work with your doctors too. Good luck. ...Read more

If I have a hemoglobin of 11.2 and my doctor told me to start taking iron pills, how long will it take for me to feel better?

Anemia: At a hemoglobin of 11.2 you probably don't have any symptoms related to anemia. Once you begin iron and assuming your anemia is due to iron deficiency you would expect your hemoglobin level to rise in a few months. ...Read more

Doctors have told me I have iron deficiency. They gave me pills to take and i started to feel better. But now i'm getting more tired. Why is that?

Fatigue is broad: Fatigue is a common complaint with a broad range of possibilities. Requires a detailed history to get to the bottom of it. I would start with reassessing what you already have (iron deficiency) before considering alternative diagnosis. Feel better ! ...Read more
