According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. 18 weeks pregnant and feeling light twitches on my lower left abdomen. Are these fetus kicks?

Baby kicks!: Only time would tell you if that is the baby kicking. The fetus usually starts to kick around week 18, so there's a good chance that this is what you are experiencing. It may not happen daily for a while until your baby gets bigger but it should come and go randomly for a while. Good luck & congrats.

Water: For now it's best to drink enough water that the urine is light yellow. If it continues, being checked for a bladder infection would be advised as the next step. Good luck. I hope it goes away.

Why do veins show on a pregnant belly in late 2nd trimester? Is it b/c of being thin? All weight gained is all in belly.

Why do veins show on a pregnant belly in late 2nd trimester? Is it b/c of being thin? All weight gained is all in belly.

Pregnancy: There is increased pressure on intra-abdominal veins due to pregnant uterus. Blood flow is increased via superficial veins that leads to distended abdominal wall veins.

18 weeks pregnant. Feel baby movements frequently but as if he is kicking at the back, not in stomach. Movements are strong but not felt on belly. Probl?

In the beginning..: The first few weeks of pregnancy the way you perceive the baby movements can vary since he/she is so small yet. Sometimes you may have gas in your bowels and at the same time the baby is moving so it may give the sensation that the movements are strong. However, if you develop pain, vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge then it is time to see your OB doctor for immediate evaluation.

Let your OB MD know: You need to let your currently treating OB MD know of your concerns who can then make a determination as to whether there is a problem or not.

See your doctor: These symptoms can only be adequately diagnosed only after a thorough evaluation by your doctor. This may include labs and other satudies. Once all of the information is in, your doctor can let you know what's going on, and what to do to help you.

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and off and on through out the day I feel almost a tightening in my lower abdomen. Like pressure. Is it the baby moving around?

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and off and on through out the day I feel almost a tightening in my lower abdomen. Like pressure. Is it the baby moving around?

Could be: You could certainly be feeling subtle fetal movements, especially if this is not your first pregnancy. However, you should check in with your ob to make sure that everything is ok. This means no bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge, loss of fluid, or other symptoms that are out of the ordinary.

18 weeks pregnant, sudden constant pain in lower abdomen, have had it for 30 minutes now. Round ligament pain or more serious?

Hard to tell.: Without more detail and a physical exam, it is hard to tell if this is a major concern or not. If it persists, I would call your obstetrician. Good luck.

I'm 18 weeks pregnant I am experiencing tightness in my lower abdomen. This has been happening for the past four days. Is this a contraction?

18 week 'tightening': Between 16 and 20 weeks your baby and your uterus are growing at a tremendous rate and are gaining a lot of weight. This causes more pressure on the ligaments (called 'round' ligaments) that hold up your uterus. It is very common to get a sensation of discomfort, tightness, or actual pain between 16 and 20 weeks. You can take either tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin for this.

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and experiencing pressure in lower abdomen and trouble urinating at times. Is this normal or cause for concern?

Have it evaluated: As soon as you can. Sounds as if it could be a urinary tract infection which can complicate pregnancy especially in first trimester.

18 weeks pregnant and have been feeling tightness in my belly and lower back pain. I feel my baby moving should I worry? What could it be?

You may have some: Mild cramping. For a first pregnancy may feel fetal movements around 18 to 20 weeks. For a repeat pregnancy may be felt as early at week 16. Let your obstetrician know what you are experiencing.
