Would there be a (big) difference in the measurement if a 12wk old fetus compared to a 9wk old fetus? The gestational age would be determined in u/s?

Would there be a (big) difference in the measurement if a 12wk old fetus compared to a 9wk old fetus? The gestational age would be determined in u/s?

Yes: An first trimester sonogram is fairly accurate at dating a pregnancy (within a margin of error of about a week). At 12 weeks menstrual age with a viable pregnancy a sonogram measurement of 9 weeks would change the dating of the pregnancy and your due date should be based on that sonogram. Later sonograms should not change this established date. ...Read more

Follow up with OB: Another us is indicated to see if this is a viable pregnancy in 7-10 days. Based on the ultrasound date the edd would be 09/13/2013. Based on a 28 day cycle conception would have occurred approximately 01/07/2013. ...Read more

Im 29 weeks pregnant, fetus too small?(2 lbs.) should I be worried? My 1st baby only weigh 5lb.10oz at 36 weeks?

Depends: There are two types of small babies. Some babies are constitutionally small because their parents are smaller people. If you had a previous small baby then maybe that is your situation again. Other times babies are small because there's a problem with the placenta. Sometimes this can be due to conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes your doctor knows best how concerning the smallness. ...Read more

Is it possible for fifth disease to be transferred to a woman's fetus in the 3rd trimester?

Is it possible for fifth disease to be transferred to a woman's fetus in the 3rd trimester?

Yes: If the mom has her primary experience with this virus at any point in pregnancy, the fetus can become infected. If it happens, the most disabling effect seems to be it's effect on the babies blood forming activity. If it slows it down or stops even briefly, the fetus may not be able to keep up with the metabolic demands of growth & a condition called hydrops can result. ...Read more
