How Big An Area Does Herpes Infect
Multiple SMALL sores in back of throat, semi clustered but not really. Not big/ not infected looking. Strep throat or gonorhoea? Or herpes? Soundslike?
Hard to tell...: I have difficulty picturing what you mean by "multiple small sores". If painful, it could be herpes. With or without pain, it doesn't sound like either strep throat or gonorrhea. If at risk for STDs and no pain, then the secondary stage of syphilis (typically 2-6 months after being infected) might be possible. Don't take chances: play it safe and see a doctor, or public STD clinic if at risk. ...Read more
There are different types of herpes infections; herpes simplex infection of mouth (gingivostomatitis) and lips (labialis) are the most common. Others include genital herpes, and herpes zoster. Herpes infection could very mild to very dangerous depending on the type and location of the body affected. I ...Read more
Can a person get herpes if they touch a towel that a infected person with an outbreak just clean affected area with?
Herpes: I think you may be misinformed. First, the answer is no. That would be an unlikely source of infection. Second, having a sore does not in any way predict contagiousness or viral shedding. In fact we now know that there is zero correlation between outbreaks and the level of virus in the skin or sore. ...Read more
My boyfriends has herpes, what worries me is that he wants to have oral sex with me and I'm worried that he;ll infect this area too. Is that possible?
Herpes: The overwhelming probability is that you are already infected with this virus and therefore it is unlikely that his going down on you is going to cause further problems. But if you want to be absolutely certain and you do not yet have the virus then don't let him give you oral sex. Enjoy. ...Read more

After applying ointment and having medicine for herpes zoster my infected area is itching more and it stings mostly. Should I worry?
Details are everythi: Do you really have zoster? Or something else? This diagnosis is frequently wrong. You fail to describe enough for any speculation about diagnosis. You did not bother to name the "ointment" or the "medicine" or how long in use. Go see a dermatologist. ...Read more
If you touch the herpes infected area with underwear on and then you wash your hands with soap then you touch your face will you still get infected?
No risk, no worry: Even if you touch a genital herpes outbreak then immediately touch your face, you would not get a facial infection. This happens sometimes during the very first herpes infection, but even that is rare; and it almost never happens in people with recurrent herpes. Even in initial infeciton, the very indirect exposure described here is zero risk. Also, soap instantaneously kills the herpes virus. ...Read more
To get genital herpes you have to touch the infected area? A woman has an infected area above vagina, not on it. So as long as I don't touch that spot I should be ok? She's been on meds for it for 4 years. No outbreak for 2 years.
I heard conflicting answers. To get genital herpes you have to come into contact with infected area? Say the infected area is on inner thigh. If I have intercourse w her and never touch the inner thigh. (Covered by a towel) could I still catch it?
Possible to get HSV: Visible HSV lesions are infectious but just covering the lesion may not be sufficient to prevent HSV transmission if there is also infectious virus on nearby skin. Avoiding close skin contact when there's a definite HSV outbreak, using condoms at other times & the person taking antiviral meds all significantly reduce HSV transmission. ...Read more
Woman has genital herpes outbreak 4 years ago on her mons pubis only. On meds. No outbreak for 2 years. What are chances of me getting it if I have sex with her but never come in contact with that area? Could she have other infected areas?
I infected with herpes in my mouth many years ago and I had cold-sore recently so if I touch it and touch genital area. I will get genital herp?
Herpes simplex: Unlikely, but not impossible. As a general rule your herpes recurrences will only be located at the nerves distribution of the primary site of infection. Depending upon your immune function and other circumstances you may develop lesions elsewhere, but this is uncommon, and doubt you will get genital lesions by touching yourself, but I never say never. ...Read more

Barrier method-Condom: Some people who've had herpes in the past, can still remain asymptomatic, and can pass this onto their partner. You need to have him checked for stds, and herpes status. If he has active outbreaks, you'll need to refrain from sex. Otherwise you will be at high risk for contracting it. Also make sure he uses condoms. He can be in remission status. ...Read more

Is it possible that I hav transfered herpes from one female to another without me getting infected? And what test should I do to chck my status?
Yes: Both men and women can be asymptomatic carriers of herpes simplex and transmit it to others without having active lesions. This is more common in women. You can check to see if you have antibodies to herpes, which would mean you have the virus, but would not tell you whether it was type 1 or 2 reliably. For that you would have to isolate the virus from active lesions and test it. ...Read more
