38w pregnant.noticed legs discolouring and veins protruding when standing. No swelling or pain, no hot spots,in both legs. Disappears when elevated?

Varicose veins: These swollen blood vessels are caused by several aspects of your pregnancy: poor blood return, pressure from the pregnancy, etc. The best relief will be compression hose which will help with support in these last few days of pregnancy. You will need to be fitted for these, so ask your OB where to get them. Elevate your legs often. They will ease up after delivery but may not go away completely ...Read more

Infection?: Red hot swollen spots make me think of infection, perhaps abscess or folliculitis, or sebaceous cysts. Abscesses don't usually go away by themselves but rather need to be drained. Folliculitis might come & go but not usually 4" in diameter (that's huge!). Not common to have several sebaceous cysts in one area. Go see your family doc for evaluation, testing & treatment.
