6yr old son gets hot swollen hands, fingers, ears, lips in cold weather or extremely cold food, depending on exposure. What causes "hot swollen skin"?
See below: Increased blood flow to theses "extremity areas" is likely the cause. As long as there is no pain, this is natural (to an extent) so to keep these areas from loosing blood flow (cold can do this) and thus decreasing oxygen to the tissues, where, if without, tissues metabolism slows and if it stops, tissues can die. With cold exposure?: I would ask first if your hands get cold and white, then blue and then when they get warm again, do they get red and tingling? Also i would need to know more about when and where these symptoms happen.
