My husband spent 8 days in the hospital for blood clot in his leg. While there he went through severe dts from alcohol. He was told his liver is enlar?

Question?: Unclear about your question. Dependence on alcohol -- addiction, alcohollsm -- can mean DT's when it is stopped. Treatment in a hospital is often required. Enlarged liver is a common problem with alcoholism. I hope you are encouraging him to get treatment for his drinking, to maintain his sobriety. Consider AA, and for yourself, consider Al-Anon. ...Read more

My friend is in the hospital with a blood clot in her lung. She has beent she be responding to the blood thinners by now, what's going to happen now?

Should be fine!: The second one forms a clot the body starts to break down. The blood thinners only prevent more clots from forming. The question is where did it come from. Does your friend use birth control pills? Any other risk factors need to be determined.
The clot will resolve over time and she will need to be on blood thinners for sometime.
Look at accp guideline for dvt/pe.

My grandfather and nephew have von willebrand diease and I just got out of hospital from 4 blood clots in lungs had clots for years is there a reverse?

Von Willebrand's: There is no reverse of von wwillegrand's disease. It is passed on as a dominant gene. I am sure that you were tested for it in the hospital and don't have it. You should review your history of recurring blood clots with your doctor. You and he (she) can review the causes and plan a course that will decrease your risk of repeated clots. ...Read more

What is the average time a blood clot would show up after a small hospital stay 3 days with pretty moderate activity.?

Blood Clots: Without any details about your age, weight, health status, medication history, reason you were hospitalized, etc., I would be shooting in the dark. Have you had a clot before? Did you have surgery? Do you have any risk factors for a clot (on ocps, clotting disorder, cancer, overweight)? Typical dvts form in the veins behind the knee or calf, causing redness and local pain. Call you md if concern. ...Read more

My great grandma got sent to the hospital for a fractured hip and a blood clot in her lung and she's 96. What could happen?

Death vs Improvement: At 96 hip fractures and pulmonary emboli (blood clots in the lungs) are serious (not that they are ever not serious) and commonly lead to death. With exemplary care and a lot of luck she might be able to pull through, especially if her mental status is good. However you should be prepared for a fatal outcome, I'm sorry to say. ...Read more

A: A vena cava filter is a very good option for preventing blood clots in the legs from reaching the lungs. However, over time, vena cava filters can create problems of their own. They are better thought of as a short-term solution. If your son has clot in his legs now, and clots in his lungs as well, then it might be a good idea to place a filter to keep him from getting more lung clots. However, once he is upa and about, and on a stable dose of coumadin, (warfarin) the filter would ideally be removed.

It is much more likely that a filter can be removed if it is taken out within about 6 weeks, after that, removal may be difficult or impossible. ...Read more

I had a blood clot in leg that broke away to lung. I stayed in hospital for 4 and 1/2 days. I want to know if it's okay to exercise a bit?

Depends: While there are no specific guidelines for when to resume the exercise, it depends on the amount of clot in the lungs and the legs (clot burden), how are your symptoms, and type of exercise you are talking about. Basic idea is not to exert yourself to aggravate the lung function when the clot is fresh, and not to let the fresh clot in the leg to move to the lungs. Light exercises Ok if tolerated. ...Read more
