Question?: Each month, fsh is produced that recruits eggs which produce estrogen. The rise in estrogen eventually triggers the lh surge and ovulation. Clomid (clomiphene) is a weak "anti-estrogen" and tricks the brain into over-stimulating the ovaries and increases changes of ovulation, to put it simply. Ok: Most ivf clinics only measure HCG levels approximately 9 days after a day 5 embryo transfer. However, some clinics feel that the combination of HCG levels and Progesterone levels have a more predictive value of a good pregnancy than HCG levels alone. Personally, we only measure hcg.
