Are my elevated hormone levels the cause of this acne?

Are my elevated hormone levels the cause of this acne?

No way to tell: If you're a female, acne in adult life or severe acne as a teen may tell of a hormonal problem especially if your periods aren't quite right. Most men are maxed-out on testosterone between the ages of 13 and old age, and there's no explaining why one guy gets acne and the next guy doesn't. I was able to stop taking meds for acne at age 50. You can stay clear using meds as well. Best wishes. ...Read more

Hormone (Definition)

A hormone (from greek ὁρμή, "impetus") is a chemical released by a cell or a gland in one part of the body that sends out messages that affect cells in other parts of the organism. Only a little amount of hormone is required to alter cell metabolism. In essence, it is a chemical messenger that transports a signal from ...Read more

Ever since on klonopin (clonazepam) developed cystic acne. Hormone levels all normal. Side effect of klonopin (clonazepam)?

Unlikely: Klonopin (clonazepam) is not known to cause acne. If anything, by decreasing anxiety, Klonopin (clonazepam) would help any stress factor that might play a role in physical health. Best to see a dermatologist for acne treatment. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Developed adult acne related to hormone replacement. Testosterone estrogen levels low. Use clindamycin 1% and not helping. What can I use?

Developed adult acne related to hormone replacement. Testosterone estrogen levels low. Use clindamycin 1% and not helping. What can I use?

Ideas: 1st of all-your hormone levels may not b checked accurately. Blood levels don't work for topicals. Sounds like u need hormones adjusted. If that doesn't help sometimes a course of antibiotics (doxycycline or Minocycline ) can help treat acne. It really sounds like you are getting too much hormone. ...Read more

What are the direct cause of high testosterone & hormonal changes which is causing me bad acne. How to control the levels, should I stop masturbating!?

Scientific Rx: At age 25, you won't be able to go without enjoying your body -- you won't be able to focus or get to sleep. And it has nothing to do with your acne. It's regreettable that your acne has been neglected this long. If it's severe, start topical benzoyl peroxide and phone your physician like a man. ...Read more

How to control hormonal changes & testosterone level which is causing bad severe acne & pimples, please explain both in detail.Should i stop masturbating?

See a dermatologist: Acne is not related to food. You can be helped with prescription creams and pills. The choice of treatments depends on the type of acne, your response & tolerance to particular treatments, and the dr's experience with one med or another. Masturbation has no effect on hormones or acne. It won't make you blind, either. ...Read more

Testosterone and dhe: Acne can be seen in men of all ages due to hormonal fluctuations. Can my adult acne be due to hormones?

Can my adult acne be due to hormones?

Maybe: It's moot. If you're a woman and your periods are irregular, or if you are either gender and have strong evidence of Cushingism, I'll give you a definite maybe that you have a hormonal disturbance. Most adults with acne have no demonstrable hormonal troubles -- I was able to stop taking Rx at age 50 -- and you'd do best to manage it just as a teen would. Benzoyl peroxide and maybe prescription Rx. ...Read more

What to do about hormone testing for acne! please help!?

What to do about hormone testing for acne! please help!?

Limited use: In a woman, significant acne may warn of an underlying disturbance in hormones; it prompts the workup in hope of perhaps identifying an underlying cause of this and other health issues. Treat the acne as you would ordinarily, with a topical such as benzoyl peroxide and perhaps a supplemental Rx like an antibiotic. ...Read more

Can your diet affect how much acne you have or is it all hormones?

Can your diet affect how much acne you have or is it all hormones?

Diet does little: Despite "pop" ideas, diet has little or no impact on acne. I was surprised, too, but the scientific work is consistent. All acne is manageable with today's medications. If you have asked here, it's time you get treated effectively. Please get with your physician. ...Read more

Ive been getting acne like cray, my diet is clean, had hormone test it was norm, what else could be causing such problem?

Genetics and hormone: What is your menstrual and pregnancy history? Family history? Meds? Supplements? Birth control? Some birth control hormones cause acne in genetically predisposed women. Adult women with acne usually respond best to oral SPIRONOLACTONE which counters androgenic [male-type] hormones. Most of these women have normal blood tests. They respond this way to hormones which cause no acne in other women. ...Read more

Does chocolate & other junk foods increase acne? M 18 yrs old & i want 2 know that is my acne only due to of hormonals or is there any other reasons?

Not a major factor: The impact of diet, if any, on acne is probably small; there's more to implicate diary than chocolate, which surprised me. Acne is also not caused by lifestyle or your enjoying your body -- the latter is good for you. Your acne can be managed by topical benzoyl peroxide for starters; if you're not clear in two weeks, your physician can give you prescription-strength rx to clear you. ...Read more
