Yes: There is no net nutritional value from either meat or milk. The "protein" in meat and "calcium" in milk is negated by the fats, cholesterol, and hormones/chemicals. You can get all the limited nutritional value from either meat or milk plus far more from fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and whole grains. If cow milk allergic: Camel's milk and horse (mare) milk would both be acceptable substitutes for a person with cow's milk allergy. Goat's milk cross reacts with cow's milk about 92% so not a good substitute. I'm not sure of the availability of camel or mare's milk in the U.S., but this could be a new industry or resource for cow's milk allergic persons. ...Read more
Depends on you: It can help with a sore throat maybe, and some people believe honey has many benefits and it might! however, for overall general, bad health, its not the whole answer. Plain milk is fine: Plain homogenized milk is fine for your son. However, i would limit the total daily volume to less than 24 oz, preferably much less, since drinking that much milk or more a day would most likely lead to iron deficiency. Even if milk does have vitamin d, if your son is dark skined, it would be a good idea to supplement with daily vitamin d, about 200-400 units a day. ...Read more
