Fsh (Definition)

Fsh is a peptide hormone synthesized in the anterior (forward) pituitary gland in both males and females. The name 'follicle stimulating hormone' refers to its role in females, namely to recruit and prepare an oocyte (egg) in the first half of the menstrual cycle leading up to ovulation. Fsh is often measured in blood to test a woman's ovarian ...Read more

I am 44 with FSH levels of 51.4 and LH levels of 51.9. Can I still undergo IVF treatment?

I am 44 with FSH levels of 51.4 and LH levels of 51.9. Can I still undergo IVF treatment?

High FSH/LH: These levels indicate very low ovarian function and are usually seen only in menopause. This would indicate that the fertility specialists would have a difficult or impossible time in retrieving any eggs from your ovaries. Donor eggs are a possibility, but this requires exceptional efforts to ready your uterine lining for implantation. Consult an IVF specialist. They will have the answers.

Testosteron 3.23 ng/ml;free test.6.64 pg/ml;fsh 4.8 and LH 2.9 miu/ml. What treatment is best to follow?

Need Re-Assessment: Current testosterone assays across the country are not as reliable as we would like. Therefore we recommend doing testosterone levels at least 2-3 times in the morning and also using clinical tool to decide of you have low testosterone. Prolactin level has to be checked too. You need to see an endocrinologist.

LH/FSH> 2 maybe PCO: Pcos = polycystic ovarian syndrome is really the name for a disruption in the way the ovary works such that the ovary tries to release an egg but just can't. The messengers from the brain (fsh and lh) go higher to try to get the egg released. If unsuccessful in doing so, infertility and no menses results. If you have regular menses, even though the lh and fsh are high, you likely don't have pcos.

Zero sperm and small testis is there any treatment except tube children (IVF) Fsh: 9.1 IU/L, LH : 5.72 IU/L, testo total 9.7nprolactin : 245.7mIU/L?

Zero sperm and small testis is there any treatment except tube children (IVF) Fsh: 9.1 IU/L, LH : 5.72 IU/L, testo total 9.7nprolactin : 245.7mIU/L?

High prolactin: Elevated prolactin can indicate a pituitary tumor (benign) which can interfere with hormone production and sperm levels, in addition to small testicle size. Ask your healthcare provider to order a CT scan of your skull to rule out a pituitary tumor. There are medications which can treat this condition, not just surgery. With "zero" sperm, even IVF is not possible.

Zero sperm: IVF or test tube babies is an option only if sperm can be obtained surgically from the testes directly. However, if no sperm can be obtained surgically, then donor sperm it's an option. See a male fertility urologist first in case any medical treatment is available in your case.

I'm 39. My amh is 2 pmol/l & I have high FSH of 15. I previously had di cycles which worked first time & have 2 children. Best course of treatment?

I'm 39. My amh is 2 pmol/l & I have high FSH of 15. I previously had di cycles which worked first time & have 2 children. Best course of treatment?

Fastest: The amh is 0.28 ng/ml (scale in us) and fsh moderately high. [hormones measured w different assays have different meanings - beware.] these values indicate very little time left for fertility. 100% of fertile women have menopause and 0% fertility - so past may not help. Ivf is fastest success and best if you can. You need fertility specialist counseling asap. I can only give brief reply. Best :).

What treatment do u suggest for elevated fsh?

What treatment do u suggest for elevated fsh?

Elevated FSH: If the fsh is elevated, there isn't a real way to "treat" it. You may have fewer normal eggs than others your age. Still, it doesn't mean that you have no normal eggs, unless you had ovarian surgery or stopped having periods and have hot flashes. If you are still having menstrual cycles, you may need to consider more aggressive measures to get pregnant and deliver. Oocyte donation may be option.

What are the chances of FSH treatment helping my husband produce sperm?

What are the chances of FSH treatment helping my husband produce sperm?

May be helpful: Fsh therapy may be helpful, but difficult and expensive. Cheaper and easier is clomiphene. Talk w/your reproductive endocrinologist. Also, rule out other causes of your husband's deficiency. Ivf can work with fewer viable sperm.

Does repeated treatment with gonadotropin to induce ovulation increase serum FSH exactly 2 weeks after the last injection?

Does repeated treatment with gonadotropin to induce ovulation increase serum FSH exactly 2 weeks after the last injection?

Elevated FSH: No, the gonadotropins that you take for ovulation induction only increase the fsh level for a short period (that is why you have to take them daily). If you have not taken medication for 2 weeks then the serum fsh value reflects what your pituitary gland is producing.

My hubby is 31 years old. He has high fsh (52.5), small testis. We are trying for 2 years. Is there any treatment so that we can have our own baby? Regards

Fertility workup: A semen analysis is in order. My colleague did well to consider Klinefelter's, and nowadays with assisted fertility, there's a fair chance he can become a dad.

I m in 30 high FSH 15.7 testestrone 3.7 sperm count 200thousend per ml can treat and what treatment?

Non hormonal Rx: Given the low sperm count and elevated fsh (>8), the chances that hormonal therapy will improve semen quality is low. Your best bet is to fix a varicocele if you have one or use assisted reproductive technology to conceive.

Okay to take care: It is okay to take care of yourself. Thyroid replacement is a huge advance in medicine, saves lives and allows better health. The alternative to best medicine, is no therapy. No therapy is not recommended. Please do some reading on thyroid replacement and the history of goiters. Hopefully you will be more willing to go with a simple, safe, effective medical therapy that will improve your health.

Lab Norms: The various labs have different normals, but as long as your labs were drawn prior to 10am and everything is within normal range {except total testosterone}, then you appear to be a candidate for consideration of testosterone replacement therapy. Expect to have your morning total testosterone level repeated.

Is oligospermia (low sperm count) treatable by homeopathy treatment?

No, but harmless: There are no good randomized clinical studies, where half of a group of men get homeopathic treatment and half get a placebo (fake treatment). Sperm counts change from month to month so if you take a baby Aspirin a day & get a better sperm count the 2nd time is it due to the aspirin? One small study of homeopathy for sperm problems had no placebo group. Expect no side effects, unknown if benefits.

Please somebody help. I'm 30 yo, I've been diagnosed with low t (3.86 ng/ml), low normal LH & FSH (0.97 & 3.15 miu). Is there a permanent cure?

No cure, but help: Not knowing what your diagnosis is, I can't say for sure. Men your age with low testosterone may have any of a number of medical reasons for that. In medicine, we speak of "cure" meaning that the illness is permanently gone with no further treatment. Most illnesses cannot be cured, but well treated. Go to your physician and get a thorough evaluation, which will then lead to treatment.
