They would be able to check the anal area and if there is any lesion they can also do a biopsy of the lesion. Hpv is a risk factor for cervical cancer as well as anal cancer. If the pain occurred only once and you don't have pain on defecating it's possible the pain may be due to Proctalgia fugax. Keep a good balance of fiber (5-6 servings of fruit / vege a day) and hydration (enough liquid to have clear urine 4-5 times a day - not what you get with beer or coffee) and he should have durable relief. Otc hemorrhoid rx may help. If not, or if the bleeding or pain worsens he may have a higher grade of hemorrhoid or fissure and shoul see a doc. ...Read more

You may have: A bothersome entity called "Fissure in an" which is a cracklike defect in you anal wall. This is VERY PAINFUL and can often not be diagnosed with simple RECTAL exam. Protoscopic exam is needed!

In the meantime try hot SITZ baths!!

Discuss with GYN: No tumor marker is conclusive of cancer. You would need to discuss this with your GYN as to why they feel the need to check a CA-125. They may just be trying to be thorough in your evaluation. ...Read more
