If your mother was 5'2 , this would suggest you reached your predicted height. (62+69= 131; 131/2=65.5+2.5= 68") if she was shorter, you are taller than expected, if taller, your growth was less.Many things go into growth patterns and poor diet, exercise, smoking can have that effect. ...Read more

Healthy diet: A healthy diet with adequate protein, calcium, fresh fruits and vegetables is the best treatment for weak hair follicles. Avoid pulling on the hair or tying it back tightly. Inflammation: Sometimes the most frustrating thing about medical work ups is not hearing a DIAGNOSIS. Your child's labs and biopsy all point to inflammation - from what it's still hard to determine but patchy cryptitis is found in both Chron's disease and Ulcerative colitis. The age and the poor growth make me more concerned for Celiac disease. Keep your follow up appt with MD for advice on next step ...Read more

Failure to thrive : I think your GI doctor suggested an upper endoscopy with possible sigmoidoscopy. Eosinophilic gastroenteropathy Is a possible reason which is evaluated by biopsies. If the biopsies are consistent with above then next step is an allergist but make sure you see a pediatric allergist who is familiar with this condition.
