Belly Pain (Definition)

Abdominal pain is pain that you feel anywhere between your chest and groin. This is often referred to as the stomach region or belly. Almost everyone experiences pain in the abdomen at one time or another. Most of the time, it is not caused by a serious medical problem. There are many organs in the abdomen. Pain in the abdomen can originate from any one of them, including: Organs related to digestion -- the end of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas The aorta -- a large blood vessel that runs straight down the inside of the abdomen The appendix -- an organ in the lower right abdomen that no longer serves much function The kidneys -- two bean-shaped organs that lie deep within the abdominal cavity The spleen -- an organ involved in blood maintenance and infection control However, the pain may start from somewhere else -- like your chest or pelvic area. You may also have a generalized infection, such as the flu or strep throat, that affects many parts of your body. The intensity of the pain does not always reflect the seriousness of the condition causing the pain. Severe abdominal pain can be from mild conditions, such as gas or the cramping of viral gastroenteritis. On the other hand, relatively mild pain or no pain may be present with life-threatening conditions, such as cancer of the ...Read more

Having watery discharge a lot n dat caused back pain n lower abdominal pain please prescribe me sum natural remedy?

See your doctor: Unclear what you mean - discharge where? If you mean rectal seepage with diarrhea, suggest first discontinue milk, coffee and artificial sugars, given that there is no blood/weight loss/fevers or other sxs. If vaginal discharge, you certainly should see your physician to rule out infection. Taking "natural remedy" for unknown cause would not be helpful, and suggest consulting your physician. ...Read more

I am 29 weeks pregnant and I have had continuous lower abdominal pain with constant migraines and no appetite. What do I do? I am 21 years old. I have HIV that I have been getting treatment for for the last 3 years, and I have also tried anything to help

Hello. : Hello. You sound like you are feeling miserable right now. I am specifically concerned about the continuous abdominal pain with loss of appetite (especially if the pain is severe). Because the cause of pain is unknown, recommend that you be evaluated by your obstetrician. Your OB doctor will likely be able to determine if the pain is related to pregnancy or if there may be a different cause. If this is not related to the pregnacy your gynecologist may do a consultation with another specialist. I think that rather than just working to control the pain right now, it may be even more important to determine the cause of the pain so that it can be addressed. Take care. ...Read more

Lower abdominal pain and uncomfortable to pee. Got treatment for clap and gonorrhea but test came back negative. Could it be trichmoniasis? Yeast inf?

PID? UTI? See doctor: This is worrisome for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), a serious STD complication. Gonorrhea or chlamydia usually are responsible, but sometimes neither one is found by testing. Or maybe you have a non-STD urinary tract infection. Trichomonas isn't a likely cause of abdominal pain, but still could be checked by a DNA test (better than the older microscope test). Return to doctor or clinic ASAP. ...Read more
