Are there any solutions to cure a strep throat without seeing a doctor like with home remedies?

Are there any solutions to cure a strep throat without seeing a doctor like with home remedies?

No: A strep throat will usually resolve in about 7 days even without antibiotic treatment but you then run the risk of developing the serious post -streptococcal sequella of glomerulonephritis or rheumatic fever. To prevent this risk you must take a full 10 days of a penicillin antibiotic. No home remedies will prevent this risk. Lozenges, cepacol throat spray and tylenol (acetaminophen) are symptomatic treatments. ...Read more

Exercise if disabled: You may be able to do some stretching exercises to maintain flexibility or use free weights or resistance bands to build your upper body strength. building muscle not only enhances strength, it contributes to weight control because the more muscle you have, the more calories you can burn. Consult with a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist. ...Read more

Have macular pucker. Doorways wavy, objects larger but see 20/20. Could difficulty seeing curbs and turn lanes when driving at night be a symptom?

Have macular pucker. Doorways wavy, objects larger but see 20/20. Could difficulty seeing curbs and turn lanes when driving at night be a symptom?

Hard to say: Getting the opinion of a retina specialist that can examine the eye carefully and see what other, if any, eye problems might contribute, would be most appropriate. If there are no other problems and the pucker is identified as the cause symptoms, then the risk of surgery must be weighted against the magnitude of the problem and visual acuity, for surgical decision making. ...Read more

71 yr old with cataract & vision in only one eye. Having difficulty seeing traffic signals. Considering the risks, would you have the surgery?

Depends: I operate on one eyed patients every week. Although risks associated with routine cataract surgery are low, i always counsel my patients that it is not worth taking the risk if you are not having trouble. If your vision is affecting your lifestyle, and you are not able to function as you would like to, it may be worth the risk. Discuss this with your surgeon. ...Read more

As long as he wets a diaper every 4-6 hours and appears to be regaining his pre-illness playfulness, his recovery is going well. ...Read more
