Home Remedies For Daily Morning Cough
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more

16 weeks baby has occasional cough. Coughs 6 to 7 times daily. Should I contact pediatrician? ? Is there any home remedy to decrease cough?
Cough = reflux?: Cough in a baby can be a viral upper respiratory infection or "cold, " but it also might be reflux or another non-infectious condition. Best to consult your doctor to make sure it seems like an innocent condition and not more serious. Home remedies include saline squirted in the baby's nose, a suction bulb to remove mucus, and a humidifier to help him breathe. Meds might be harmful - don't use.See 1 more doctor answer
8th day of cold. Still have little yello/white cattarh and dry with some productive morning cough. Does the sun and the sea get me better?
COPD: See MD. Even without knowing your age/ medical history one may venture to guess this may be COPD related to smoking or smoke exposure history. Chronic morning cough with sputum production sets warning bells off immediately. Chronic cough>8 wks different story. But MDs don't like to guess we need the info. Pursue pulmonology/spirometry consultation. Minimize your cardiovascular risks. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Treatment...: There are treatments for post-nasal drip including prescription nasal sprays. Treatment does depend on the etiology of the post-nasal drip (ex. Allergies, post-cold, etc.) your doctor can treat this depending on the cause. Sometimes, it is a self-limiting process so it may resolve on its own in a few days. See your doctor if it doesn't resolve in a few days.See 1 more doctor answer
Chronic morning cough which feels like the throat tightening. When on vacation my husband never has this cough. Is it linked to anxiety?
Few possibilities: Chronic sore throat is usually one of a few different things. Allergies causing a post nasal drip. Acid reflux can cause this as well. Make sure you are not laying down after eating. Thirst usually depends on your water intake and electrolyte balance. I would keep track of your diet and water intake in a diary and show that to your doctor.
Recurrence: You might have a recurrence of a bacterial sinus infection. Try the simple things first, nasal saline rinse, Mucinex (guaifenesin) DM, and a decongestant. You can even try Nasacourt (it is an over the counter nasal steroid spray). If it doesn't help or your symptoms last more than 10 days, then you should consider antibiotics.See 1 more doctor answer
My one year old son has a everyday (only)morning cough, constant nose congestion and gaggs and chokes on some foods. Any reasons?
Aspiration, reflux: Many things can cause long-term cough and congestion in a one-year old, most relate to inhaling (aspirating) what they eat. What you describe should be discussed with your doctor as they could lead to pneumonia. Be sure your son doesn't get a bottle or cup propped in bed at night. Your doctor is likely to want to check out his swallowing and possible acid reflux. Allergies aren't too likely.
I am experiencing morning cough (worsened by: exposure to secondhand smoke) (quality: with gray colored phelgm or mucus, chronic cough).
Lessen exposure: Please see your doctor. You are very young for this. You should lessen your exposure to cigarette smoke and any other toxic fumes in your community. Good luck.
I see light blood stains in early morning cough. Had cold for last 2 weeks and was using heater at night. Feel dry inside nose & had small cracks.?
Had morning cough for a month had normal chest X-ray 6months ago but tech said I had really long lungs. Is this COPD? Cough started when I quit smoke
Possibly yes.: Tech MAY be referring to Hyperinflation (over expansion) of the lungs. COPD is the most common cause. In COPD there is an inability for the lungs to empty normally on expiration due to loss of Elastic recoil and Collapse of the small airways (bronchioles). The overinflation is a compensation to increase elastic recoil. See> http:///bit. Ly/2gEJZAc Being a former smoker suggests you likely have COPD
What is the relationship with high neutrophil and asthma? I have had morning cough from nov-jan. Chest X-ray is clear; wheezing and sob on exam.
Not too much: A high neutrophil count on a CBC (complete blood count) can be found after a patient has taken Prednisone (oral steroids). It can also be seen under times of "stress" including bacterial infections. There are various forms of asthma where there is high neutrophil count in the sputum coughed from the lungs-this includes some occupational asthma and severe non-allergic asthma.See 1 more doctor answer
I've had a morning cough for a month. Never any flu symptoms. Now my left arm goes numb when I lie down. Cancer? Had clear chest X-ray 6 months ago
Cancer?: Doubtful especially with a normal chest radiograph in the last 6 months. The cough and the left arm are probably 2 separate conditions. I would start with your PCP or see an ENT/pulmonologist for the cough. See an orthopaedic doc for the left arm.
I have a stuffed up nose sore throught can't speak in the morning cough mucus in lungs in morning. I'm miserable help I also have asthma?
Don't delay: Asthma is not a disease to take lightly or ignore. If night time symptoms occur more than twice a month or day symptoms more than twice a week, asthma is not controlled. There are many triggers that should be evaluated for and with nasal congestion, consideration to allergies and sinus issues is high. There are many excellent medications available to treat asthma and allergies. Relief is there.See 1 more doctor answer
I have a white pimple on gums, vry bad teeth. I am chokin on phlem ev morning, cough, r side of bk of neck is swollen, stiff but no fever. What's wrong?
Sore throat worsening for a few days with postnasal drip. Throat pain when swallowing (very bad in morning). Cough on & off. Congested. Ideas?
A cold?: If this has been present for just a few days, it is likely from a viral infection If it lingers on beyond 10 days, then I would suspect a sinus infection. See doctor if getting worse.See 1 more doctor answer
I work in a icu, ex smoker, had cough history past 3 months onwards and treatment had taken, pft, montex showed normal. Still cough on morning?
See Below: The top 3 causes of chronic cough are in order, post nasal drip>asthma>acid reflux which may be silent. That and an ACE inhibitor cough account for 90ish percent of all chronic cough. Given smoking history I absolutely agree with getting a chest x-Ray. If all of these are not problems and x-Ray is normal consider high res CT.See 3 more doctor answers
