A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. Infected?: A Bartholin gland is usually "lanced" when it's infected. This treats the infection, but the gland stays in place, and in these cases there is a very high chance of the gland enlarging and becoming bothersome again (not necessarily infected). The best time to completely remove an enlarged Bartholin gland is when it is not infected, so you may try for a more complete excision at this point. ...Read more

If your lymph nodes are involved then you will need antibiotic treatment. In additon, depending on the cyst, it may need to be incised and drained with the insertion of a special catheter. Since you do not have insurance, I recommend you find a free or low cost clinic in your area. Your local county hospital should have a list of resources or even a clinic on site that can help.

Gyn oncologists: Most general gynecologists don't dabble in lasers. They are primarily used for vulvar and vaginal dysplasias. A gynecologic oncologist would most likely have "laser privileges". I had a bartholin cyst aspirated 2 weeks ago. It hurts a bit when I get turned on. Any idea what is happening?
Healing: As you become sexually aroused, the blood vessels in the vulva and vagina dilate. This can put some added pressure on any injured or healing area. The resulting discomfort in an area of recent cyst aspiration is not at all surprising. It will gradually disappear over the next couple of weeks, perhaps a little longer. If it persists more than 6 weeks, discuss with your doctor. Good wishes:) ...Read more

See a doctor: Bartholin gland cysts / abscesses develop in approximately 2 percent of all women. Asymptomatic cysts in patients under age 40 may not require treatment, however, there are a number of vulvar + vaginal lesions that can mimic a cyst / abscess. Although vulvar cancer is rare, especially in a menstruating woman, a bleeding Bartholin cyst requires evaluation by your MD ASAP with a likely biopsy. ...Read more

Warm compresses: Warm compresses are better than cold to help the cyst drain.
