Croup: Laryngotracheitis or croup causes a harsh barky cough that sounds awful. Breathing cool air sometimes helps, and a short course of steroids does shorten the course. If any signs of respiratory distress, he should be brought in to the er. It is viral and otherwise needs to run its course, but if not improving bring him in to be evaluated by his doctor. ...Read more
