I am a breast feeding mother of 14 weeks infant. Nipples crack few times. Wat is the home remedy for it?

Steamy shower: The coughs in infants are very difficult to deal with. There are not any medicine over the counter recommended for under 2 years. Sometimes steaming up the shower stall and having your baby breath the warm mist is helpful. A humidifier or vaporizer may help also particularly in the winter. But i would see your pediatrician to see if its only a cold or some other cause. ...Read more
CONSTIPATION IN: Infant: if problem since birth, e.g. Delayed passage of meconeum followed by ongoing constipation needs to rule out "hirschsprung disease". Breast fed babies can have a bowel movement every 5-7 or more days; as long as stool is firm, not to worry. Many possibilities..: There are many reasons for spitting up-most commonly they not of concern BUT this is should be addressed with pediatrician. Is the baby gaining weight well? At night times my 12 weeks old infant will not wake up to breast feed, 5 hours gap ll b there for last breastfeed. Any problem to baby's nutition?
Not if baby is fine: We (doctors, moms, dads, neighbors, etc.) all want babies to sleep through the night by the time they are 3 months old. Parents with babies who sleep through the night are lucky parents. As long as a baby is growing fine on his measurements at the check-ups, and is healthy, parents don't need to wake up a sleeping baby at night. ...Read more

I have been feeding my daughter ready made similac at room temp for over a week after opening. Can she get sick from this?
No: I take it that you are simply opening a can and transfer it to a bottle and feeding it. I don't see anything wrong with it, if the baby is drinking well. Warming the milk is preferable for a young newborn baby because it simulates temperature of breast milk, but certainly it does not sterilize the milk. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 10 week old daughter is exclusively formula fed. She still spits up a lot, and for a while after each feeding. How can I help her out?
Burp, upright: New babies, like 10 week old, spit alot. The valves that close their stomachs are not well developed, and they are also on liquid diets and eat frequently. Feed slowly, burp frequently and keep upright after feeds. There are special anti-reflux formulas that "thicken" the feeding, or alternatively, some docs like the parents to use cereal to thicken the feed. Talk to your ped! congrats on baby! ...Read more

Let baby decide: At 2 weeks of age, your baby needs to decide its sleep/wake cycle. Its body will wake it up as often as it needs to in order to get adequate calorie intake over the course of the day. Don't try to force anyone else's schedule on the baby yet. Right now you need to follow his or her schedule, even if that means getting up every two hours all night long. He or she will sleep longer soon enough. ...Read more
