Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

If a at home pregnancy test says negative will the blood test say it too?

If a at home pregnancy test says negative will the blood test say it too?

Likely: Today's home preg tests can pick up very low levels of the preg hormone hcg. I consider those results reliable. If a result is questionable, repeating the test in a few days will be helpful. If there is some concern about the viability of a pregnancy then serial quantitative blood HCG levels would be helpful for diagnosis. ...Read more

Why do some women never test positive on a home pregnancy test?? Not blood test. Followed directions. 10 weeks since sex

Why do some women never test positive on a home pregnancy test?? Not blood test. Followed directions. 10 weeks since sex

Persistent neg uhCG: The reason is unclear. Clearly some forms of the hCG molecule do not respond to the antibodies in the preg test and it gives a negative result, which is clearly a false negative. That being said doesn't mean that your pregnancy is at all abnormal with a + blood test. I wouldn't be concerned over this. ...Read more

5 positive home pregnancy test 2 different brands negative blood test still getting a positive in home test lines very slowly getting darker ?

Blood test for HCG: Given the discrepant results with hpt, it would be useful to see your doctor and get a blood test for HCG levels, it is more sensitive and specific than hpt. Alternatively could wait 4-5 days to repeat hpt. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more

Last sex 5.05. On 8.06 i took blood test hCG beta hormon level 7, 6. After seven days i made home pregnancy test it was negative. I'm i pregnant?

Last sex 5.05. On 8.06 i took blood test hCG beta hormon level 7, 6. After seven days i made home pregnancy test it was negative. I'm i pregnant?

Don't think so.: The beta HCG level of 7 is very low- if a urine pregnancy test was negative 7 days later then it sounds like your hormone levels declined after the 8.06 test -instead of increasing, as they should have with a normally progressing pregnancy. There is a small chance of getting a false negative home pregnancy test and you could check it again or get another beta check to be sure. But most likely not. ...Read more

I want to know if i'm pregnant..I already done some home pregnancy test and all came out negative; my question is when a blood test is more accurate? A week before or after my suppose be period?

At or after menses: A blood pregnancy test will be accurate about 12 days after you ovulate. That is usually just prior to your menses. If you are trying to get pregnant, an ovulation predictor kit can help you determine when you are ovulating as well. Good luck! ...Read more

7days late periods...age 24 good health...negative home pregnancy test today...when can I take another hpt to b sure or should I get a blood test..

May repeat in a week: Today's home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, vaginal spotting, or medications. A test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (or when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a negative result may be due to testing too early, such as less than 2 weeks after conception. ...Read more
