Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

What does it mean if a home pregnancy test was positive, but the urine test at the doctor's office was negative?

Timing and technique: Was first morning urine used either time? Did you follow the instructions carefully, including the time within which the test should be read after adding urine? Pregnancy test positive..week 4 n 3days! but i cant visit doc until my hubby comes home..n his coming on 9th week of my pregnancy..is it ok?

Yes, its ok: Waiting until your 9th week to see your doc will most likely not hurt you or your baby. It would be best to start taking pre-natal vitamins that contain folic acid even before you see your doc. We often like to see you sooner to arrange an early ultrasound and review your history but it doesn't frequently change the pregnancy outcome. Best wishes! ...Read more

Is a first response early result pregnancy test more accurate then a dr.S office urine test? My home pregnancy test was pos but doc office was neg!

Is a first response early result pregnancy test more accurate then a dr.S office urine test? My home pregnancy test was pos but doc office was neg!

Not likely.: No test is 100% accurate, unfortunately. I'd suggest waiting a week, repeating the home test, and if it's still positive, going back to your doctor's. If the doctor's office urine test is still negative, your doctor can order a blood test for pregnancy, which is more accurate. ...Read more

Positive (faint line) home pregnancy test 2/18, urine test at doc. Confirmed pregnancy. Home test again 2/22 still very faint + line, is this normal?

Yes: I would be concerned if home test went from positive to negative. If you're having a lot of anxiety over this see if your doctor will repeat your serum pregnancy test in a few days, but i would not worry too much. It won't help to be overly stressed. ...Read more

My period is now 8 days late, I have taken a home pregnancy test and it was negative. I than took one at the doctors and that was also negative. my breast were really sore about two weeks ago, and they still hurt but not as much. Could I be pregnant?

Tests are accurate : If you have taken pregnancy tests at home and they are negative then you can rest assured that you are not pregnant. You will need to see your doctor to discuss irregular periods. If the symptoms you are experiencing were caused by pregnancy than that implies that your hormone level would be high enough for detection ...Read more

I took a home pregnancy test it was negative i also went to the doctor and it was negative. But im still having sypmptoms?

I took a home pregnancy test it was negative i also went to the doctor and it was negative. But im still having sypmptoms?

Depends on timing: It is possible to be pregnant and still have the test be negative if you are too close to when you would have expected your period. If your period was just due, i recommend waiting a few days or even a week and retesting. Or you can ask your doctor do do the blood test which can be positive a bit sooner, but it may be worth just waiting a bit to try the urine again. ...Read more

My period is 17 days late. I took 3 home pregnancy test. All 3 were negative. Should I see a doctor?

My period is 17 days late. I took 3 home pregnancy test. All 3 were negative. Should I see a doctor?

Not necessarily: A late period usually means not ovulating. If you are trying to get pregnant, that might be worth your seeing a doctor for treatment. If you are not trying to be pregnant at this time and if this is a single missed period, waiting may be ok. Not menstruating for 3 months (or 3 times your normal time between periods) usually is reason for medical evaluation. ...Read more
