Bronchospasm...: As an episode of bronchitis resolves, you can develop bronchospasm which can account for at least some of your symptoms. Bronchodilator and steroid inhalers may be needed to help these symptoms resolve. It will likely take at least a few days for the hoarseness to resolve. See your doctor for a prescription for the inhalers.

Hoarse Voice (Definition)

Hoarseness is having difficulty producing sound when trying to speak, or a change in the pitch or quality of the voice. The voice may sound weak, very breathy, scratchy, or husky. Hoarseness is usually caused by a problem in the vocal cords. Most cases of hoarseness occur with swelling (inflammation) ...Read more

My voice is gone, is this a part of bronchitis?

My voice is gone, is this a part of bronchitis?

No: Your voice is gone because of the impact of something upon the vocal cords, which reside in the upper airway. Bronchitis occurs in the lower airways, exclusive of the vocal cords.

I lost my voice because of bronchitis! How do I relieve the pain and get my voice back?

Don't worry...: Your voice will gradually return once the inflammation from the bronchitis resolves. Meanwhile, drink plenty of fluids and try not to strain your voice ie try not to raise your voice, etc. Rest yourself and your voice as much as possible and your voice should return gradually to normal in a few days. If it doesn't, see your doctor.

Can bronchitis make me lose my voice? My bf has bronchitis but im not experiencing any of his symptoms other than losing my voice which he hasn't

Can bronchitis make me lose my voice? My bf has bronchitis but im not experiencing any of his symptoms other than losing my voice which he hasn't

Bronchitis: This is almost invariably a viral illness and the same virus can also cause laryngitis with loss of voice. You may have gotten the virus but it acted differently in your body.

Virus: Symptoms caused by viral infections can vary from person to person and sometimes randomly based on site of initial infection. Many viruses can cause bronchitis in one person and laryngitis in the next. Expect symptoms to last 7-14 days.

Don't talk: I once had this and a very helpful pharmacist expanded on the good advice from my primary care physician. He'd told me to rest my voice as much as possible. Drink soothing tepid fluids, gargle w/ saline, etc. ADDED to that was: Don't whisper (it's even worse than talking) and don't even form words w/ mouth. The vocal cords play along and don't rest. They need a few days off. It worked! Write notes

Bronchospasm...: After bronchitis infections, bronchospasm can occur due to inflammation in the airways. Bronchodilator inhalers as well as steroid inhalers can help with this. If your shortness of breath is worsening, then see your doctor ASAP or go to the ER. Vocal cords can become inflamed from the coughing associated w/ bronchitis which may explain laryngitis. Steroids can also cause hoarseness. See your doc!

Probably not bronch: You likely no longer have the original infection, but are suffering from your body's response to your illness. If you still have post nasal drip, it can give you a nasty cough with phlegm for weeks to months after a viral illness. Go back and see your physician, and tell him/her you're still suffering.

I had bronchitis. Lost my voice for 3 days. Then I got a cough/lasted for 2 months now. Taken steroids, asthma and antibotics the cough won't go away.

Time for evaluation: If you haven't had a chest x ray, it would be a good start. You can have what is called increased vocal fold sensitivity after a cold, but that should last about this long. Other considerations are allergy, sinusitis, and reflux. Allergy and asthma should have at least temporarily improved on steroids. Seeing an ENT can frequently be a good start when dealing with chronic cough

38yr f. Bronchitis for 2months w/asthma. Z-pack started 11/3, no voice for 7 days now. When can I expect my voice to heal and come back?

Pharyngitis: This is most commonly due to viral infection and the degree and rapidity of recovery will vary with the virus involved, the person infected, whether or not they smoke or are exposed to second hand smoke and other factors. Recovery may be slow and progressive but take time. Be patient and hope you are better soon.

I have bronchitis obliternas and am due for a lung transplant soon. Do you guys think my voice won't change because of my illness?

I have bronchitis obliternas and am due for a lung transplant soon. Do you guys think my voice won't change because of my illness?

No: Do you mean bronchiolitis obliterans? This is destruction of the bronchioles, which are very small airway channels within the lungs. No, your voice would not change since the voice box isn't transplanted.

Had chest pressure and hoarse voice for 4 days. Thought maybe bronchitis after zpack still no relief. Should I go get checked? Possibly tonsillitis?

Had chest pressure and hoarse voice for 4 days. Thought maybe bronchitis after zpack still no relief. Should I go get checked? Possibly tonsillitis?

Odds are you have: And had a viral infection which is why you have no response to the Z-pak. Probably influenza. Unlikely to be tonsillitis from your description but it would't hurt to get checked out since you are uncomfortable. Your health care provider will be able to give you tips for dealing with viral infections so maybe you can avoid indiscriminate use of antibiotics in the future.
