Hla = human leukocyte antigen. Important in recognition of self and not self. Different proteins (antigens) for different people. B is one of the loci, and hlab27 has been associated with predisposition to immunologic rheumatologic diseases, especially ankylosing spondylitis.

Not many: Sounds like you have already had a "work-up" for your symptoms (ANA. HLA B27 are not :common" tests The raised ALT may or may not be associated with your other symptoms. Do you have a liver problem? Hepatitis B, C often cause associated joint problems. Not to worry: Thee is no disease associated with a high c4. Patients with active lupus may have a low c4. Your other results are confusing. Sounds like you need a rheumatologist to do a complete history and physical exam and to interpret the results of the lab studies. ...Read more
