Hiv Test After 25 Days
I did 4th Generation HIV test after around 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 weeks of an exposure. Is this 100% conclusive? Can I get back safely to my wife
Sero-conversion: The whole concept of delayed sero-conversion dates back to old & sloppy tests. PCR testing now will show virus in the blood with or without antibodies. If you need to cling to the old adages...at 6 months. 99.99% of the population will have developed antibodies after an exposure. Thus the 6 month window. I believe a colleague of mine Lyssette Cardona, MD is in Dubai. She's one of the best!! ...Read more
Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more
I got RNA HIV test negative after 25 days after exposure should I be still worried or its 100 accurate? ? Please help
Nothing is 100%: "old-school" reccs re-test at 3-6-12 months to be "sure" negative is negative. This is evolving to recheck at 6 months. If cannot stand the wait, 3 months will catch vast majority who will eventually convert. Can search "window period" to learn more about when test may be too early to show true positive. ...Read more
If I had an HIV test 25 days after possible exposure and it came back negative is that pretty reliable? It was an antibody and antigen test
HIV testing: You should be followed up with a repeat test at 3 mos, but the test you had is fairly reliable by itself. The problem is the rare individual whose tests become positive later than the 25 period you mention. ...Read more
Very accurate at 25: Days (approx 1 month). You should get tested again at 6 months to be sure. ...Read more
Depends on the test: And results. Any of the tests for HIV nucleic acid, HIV antigen or HIV antibody, if positive, is conclusive of HIV infection. Negative test for HIV nucleic acid would essentially rule out HIV infection. A negative test for antigen and antibody will not rule out HIV infection. ...Read more
Around 50%: Roughly half of newly infected people would have a positive duo test at 10 days. If at truly high risk, like unprotected sex with a known infected partner, ask about an RNA test for the virus. However, heterosexually acquired HIV remains quite rare in the UK. If at lower risk, have another duo test at 28 days, which will be conclusive. Or get expert advice at an NHS GUM clinic. Good luck! ...Read more
ELISA and repeat: If your worried about an single exposure and don't have any symptoms you should just get a standard elisa and repeat it in 3 and 6 months. If you have symptoms that a doctor believes can be acute HIV syndrome, then other tests like p24 and CD4 count can be used. ...Read more
Not entirely: What test did you get? Antibodies to hiv, the usual test, take variable amounts of time to develop in different people. If you are antibody negative one year after exposure that would be more or less safe. Please consult your doctor for getting nucleic acid test that turns positive sooner, of one is infected. ...Read more
Would retest: Most rapid HIV tests would be positive 4 to 6 weeks after HIV exposure. However some won't be positive for up to 3 months after exposure. If possible, I would ask whoever performed the test this question. If they are unsure, I would repeat the test 3 months after the exposure. ...Read more
I took a 5th gen Ag/Ab HIV test 39 days post possible exposure. Result was non-reactive. Am I ok?
Conclusive HIV test: "Fifth generation" for an HIV test is marketing hype -- the manufacturer calls their new test 5th gen, but it's still bacially the same as all other 4th generation tests. Results of 4th gen HIV tests are usually conclusive after 4 weeks and always by 6 weeks (42 days). But 39 days is close enough; for sure you didn't catch HIV. ...Read more
I took HIV test 8 time during 350 days after exposure all negative I'm I safe do I need further testing?
After how many days HIV test will give accurate status after exposure by fourth generation ECLIA cobas6000 (combo)hiv p24antigen & HIV antibody1& 2?
Routine antibody testing for HIV can take three to six months to be fully discernible with testing. If there is a high risk exposure or chance you are infected there is the HIV RNA or dna testing available that will be positive from day 21 and later.
Remember, HIV infections can be prevented after high risk exposure with post exposure prophylaxis. Pep. You need a doctor who knows this! ...Read more

How conclusive is a 30 days fourth generation duo combo HIV test? It came back negative I've read on some sites doing that test is conclusive and on other sites it's inconclusive
There are several ways to detect the HIV virus. The first is by antibodies. This includes eia (enzyme immuno assay). The rapid HIV tests are these types. The second way detects proteins on the viral coat (western blot). This is a gel plate electrophoresis. Thirdly there is pcr (polymerase chain reaction). This detects and amplifies dna allowing a viral ...Read more
