Does HIV cause 3 mild swollen lymph nodes in one side of the neck? No other nodes are swollen in all my body? I tested negative!

Does HIV cause 3 mild swollen lymph nodes in one side of the neck? No other nodes are swollen in all my body? I tested negative!

Unlikely: The unilateral involvement suggests that It is more likely from an upper respiratory tract infection or a bacterial infection in areas above the neck at that side (sinusitis, dental abscess etc). You would be much sicker if the problem is from HIV. ...Read more

Hiv (Definition)

Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more

Are swollen lymph nodes noticeable with hiv?

Possibly...: Acute retroviral syndrome (ARS, i.e. symptoms from a new HIV infection) can include enlarged lymph nodes. However, that''s usually not the only symptom -- usually also sore throat, fever, skin rash. The vast majority of people with newly enlarged lymph nodes do not have HIV. Check with your doctor and/or get tested for HIV if exposed or concerned. ...Read more

Multiple HIV negative tests tell 7 months from last exposure, but still many small swollen lymph nodes in neck that are chronic. Im a smoker ?

Multiple HIV negative tests tell 7 months from last exposure, but still many small swollen lymph nodes in neck that are chronic. Im a smoker ?

Not HIV: The HIV blood tests are among the most accurate diagnostic tests ever developed, for any medical condition. If enough time has passed since the last possible exposure (usually only 6 weeks for the modern, standard HIV tests), a negative results always overrules symptoms and exposure history. And of course many minor conditions cause small lymph nodes like this. For sure it's not HIV. Stop testing. ...Read more

Tested neg for HIV at 4 weeks, now 6 months later I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck that mildly hurt when touched. Do I have hiv? Partner testd ng

Tested neg for HIV at 4 weeks, now 6 months later I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck that mildly hurt when touched. Do I have hiv? Partner testd ng

Impossible: First we would never, ever guess about HIV. Having swollen lymph nodes does not in any way diagnose one as being HIV positive. Second, you did not test correctly for HIV and the test you report was a complete and absolutely invalid test. It was done two months too soon. Because of this you must do another HIV test. At six months the results will be valid. ...Read more

How often does someone have swollen lymph node in the neck that doesn't have a lump? For HIV in particular does swollen lymph nodes always have lump

And every male in his twenties, like you, has at least one or two palpable lymph nodes somewhere in the neck. Please do yourself a major favor right now, and go back to your physician and ask to be screened for HIV. Worrying like this is draining you of energy you need for other things. All ARS symptoms after unprotected sex. Negative HIV RNA & 4th gen at 1 yr Swollen lymph nodes & abn CBC. What testing can be done for HIV type N & P?

For sure not HIV: First, "all ARS symptoms" is meaningless. Innumerable medical conditions have identical symptoms as ARS, most of them minor and not worrisome. Second, the HIV tests are far more reliable than symptoms in determining whether or not someone has HIV. Your tests are valid for all HIV types, including N and P, and prove your symptoms are due to something other than ARS. Believe it and move on. Gd luck! ...Read more

Hello,1 week ago I had unprotected sex, and now I'm experiencing swollen lymph nodes in my arm. Can this be due to some Std like HIV?

Hello,1 week ago I had unprotected sex, and now I'm experiencing swollen lymph nodes in my arm. Can this be due to some Std like HIV?

No: Unprotected sex is only a problem if the male partner is uncircumcised. Here the foreskin can harbor both HPV and HIV. In either instance developing the infectious process could take months. With HPV in situ CA of cervix would develop and nodes in axilla would not be involved. With HIV the partner would almost have to know of his problem and the eventual disease becomes systemic. ...Read more
