Have shingles and have been getting rashes on my leg, pubic area, face, mouth why would my doc want a HIV test, I am offended by this I have shingles ?

Have shingles and have been getting rashes on my leg, pubic area, face, mouth why would my doc want a HIV test, I am offended by this I have shingles ?

'Shingles' usually appears in a dermatome (meaning that it only follows one single nerve distribution). Scared for HIV exposure. Red skin under the head of my penis. No other symp.Possible exposure was 5 wks ago. Rash wouldn't just show up now, would it?

This is not HIV: HIV does not announce itself as a rash on your penis in any case. Chances are that this is a minor hygiene problem or perhaps mild allergy to clothing or detergent. If it stays around for 2 weeks or more, get it seen, or if it's painful, get evaluated now for possible herpes. ...Read more

Itchy skin rash all over body (except for face, neck, palms and soles) for 14 days. NO fever, NO flu-like symptons, NO lymph node. Can it be HIV ARS?

Itchy skin rash all over body (except for face, neck, palms and soles) for 14 days. NO fever, NO flu-like symptons, NO lymph node. Can it be HIV ARS?

Rash: It sounds more likely that it is an allergic reaction to something. The fact that it is not on the palms and soles of your feet makes other bad things less likely. Skin rashes are hard to diagnose and the diagnosis depends on where the rash is, the color, whether there are blotches, raised bumps and many other things. You can buy benadryl (diphenhydramine) in the pharmacy for itching and if it persists see DR. ...Read more
