Hiv Early Test
Fairly good.: If the test is performed exactly as instructed, a false negative test is very unlikely in advanced HIV/AIDS. (A false negative is a negative test in a person who, in fact, does have the condition being tested.) However, it's also unlikely that a person with late stage HIV/AIDS wouldn't already have sought medical care since they would be quite symptomatic by then. ...Read more

See below: It is good that it is negative but it is too soon to exclude HIV. Get a HIV nucleic acid test and if that is negative at 6 months after exposure that would essentially exclude HIV. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more

Hiv rna test result undetected after unprotected blowjob at day17. Test range 40 to 10mil. Is it conclusive?regular hiv test neg at 15 days. Hiv?
No risk: HIV is rarely transmitted by oral sex. If you were the receiver of the BJ, you can be sure you weren't infected: there are few if any proved cases of oral to genital HIV transmission. Most experts would have recommended against an RNA test in this situation, but the negative result is additional strong evidence you weren't infected. The "regular" test is only slightly reassuring, 4-6 wk minimum. ...Read more
Need details: A single nucleic acid test after the interval during which this becomes positive is proof enough that you are not infected. You're young. I trust you'll play safe from now on, and if you continue to have obsessive thoughts that you have become infected, sit down with your physician or someone who's trained in helping you get back into control of these unwanted and unhelpful thoughts. ...Read more
HIV: This test measures p24 antigen and HIV antibodies and if negative 4 mos after exposure has an inordinately high likelihood that you are negative and will remain so if you do not have further exposures. Some might advise being retested at 6 mos, but doubt this is necessary. Best wishes. ...Read more
Yes: There are 2 reasons for this kind of result: (1) a false positive, or (2) early infection before seroconversion. In someone at low risk for HIV without symptoms, another negative WB in 1 month means there's no infection. In someone at risk or with symptoms of acute infection, a viral load can be helpful. The new 4th generation antigen/antibody tests will eliminate this problem. ...Read more
Hi. How accurate/conclusive is a negative result of HIV RNA (early detection test) taken 4 weeks post exposure? My exposure was pretty low risk as told to me by my doctors. I will obviously be taking other follow up tests as time goes by. Thank you.
Almost 100%: Your "obviously" comment is based on a misconception. RNA testing alone is nearly 100% accurate at 4 weeks. If you also have (or had) a negative antibody test, the results are (or will be) conclusive. The duo test (antibody/antigen) or RNA plus an antibody test are 100% conlcusve at 4 weeks. Going beyond 4 weeks is needed only for stand-alone antibody tests -- and even then, 6-8 weeks is enough. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
The new FDA approved early HIV test is the HIV RNA TMA. I understand it is a pooled NAAT test. Does being pooled make it less accurate? PCR better?
Why if it takes six months for HIV to appear in ur body do u take a HIV test so early in pregnancy?
HIV testing: Hiv testing is both for routine and urgent reasons. Any HIV positive mother will get better and appropriate care the earlier their diagnosis is known. The whole goal in that situation is to prepare all prevention so that the baby does not get infected. If there is acute risk then there is a test that can be done 21 days after exposure that can diagnose hiv! ...Read more
Had an exposure 4 wks ago want to do HIV 4 th generatin test will it be conclusive n accurate some doctors say yes do u think to early?
HIV testing: This test will be conclusive -- the 4th generation HIV test looks for a piece of the virus (p24 antigen) PLUS an antibody signature (your body's reaction to it). So it is very very sensitive and should tell you what you and your doc need to know. This improved test shortens the window period from exposure to test positivity -so I trust it. HIV transmission...: ...is highly variable. Many partners remain free of infection after years of regular sex with infected people. Others are infected after only a few exposures. Infectivity depends on infected person's blood level of virus, presence of other STDs, and many other things. Start using condoms immediately -- even better, no sex until he is on treatment. Effective antiviral treatment will protect you. ...Read more
Are home HIV tests reliable after 2 months? Got negative. Is it too early to tell? I'm scared! Please help!
Hey man!: They're pretty reliable but not perfect. Since you sound like you're really worried, get with your personal physician and get one of these super-accurate blood tests. You're only 18 and this is rough on you. I hope you turn out not to be infected. I also hope that whatever the outcome, you'll cherish having shared love, and be a wiser, better, and more careful lover in the future. ...Read more

Duo test at 4 weeks: This was a safe exposure, assuming the condom remained intact, and the chance you were infected was zero for practical purposes. If you feel you need testing anyway, have a duo ("4th generation") test at 4 weeks, when a negative result will be conclusive. In the future, always ask partners about HIV status, and no sex (even w/ condom) with positives not on treatment. Then no worries! ...Read more
If a person had unprotected sex , if he had been transmitted a HIV virus how early can it be detected in test?
I suspected expose to HIV infection during early November 2013.... get test in april 2014 shown negative.... is is concluded my test result is negativ?
Most likely: HIV usually shows signs in blood work after 3 months post exposure. If a test is negative after 5 months and you have not had unprotected sex or any further exposure then most likely you are negative. Continue to follow up with your doctor and make sure you use protection during your sexual encounters. ...Read more

Paranoia about HIV exposure. 4th Gen test, negative at 9th, 17th, and 37th day. RNA QL TMA early test, negative at 17th and 37th day. Can I rest easy?
Rest easy: There are 2 types of HIV tests, viral antibody tests are the most common and inexpensive. 95% of people who have contracted AIDS show positive within 90 days, but it can take 6 months. Then there are tests looking for the virus itself (viral load) these will be positive within 2 weeks or sooner. These are the early tests such as RNA QL TMA. Based on that, Be safe and relax. Took HIV Antibody 1&2 Test and P24 Antigen test 10 days after PEP. Results non-reactive. A bit early. All other blood panel metrics normal. Thoughts?
Not conclusive: These results are reassuring; it is unlikely you were infected. However, the results are not conclusive. Following PEP, it is necessary to test for HIV longer than otherwise, maybe up to 4 months. (PEP is great when needed, but it prolongs the time of uncertainty about whether infection occurred.) Discuss with the clinic or doctor who prescribed the PEP and follow his or her advice. ...Read more
