Does cobas taqman v 2 for HIV 1 RNA check for all groups N, O, P, M and all subtypes of M. If not, what it doesn't check. Please answer, Thanks?

A technical question: I am looking at the Roche website regarding this test and it says this test, "Quantifies the clinically significant HIV-1 groups and subtypes with full subtype coverage and quantifications of HIV-1 groups O and M" It is a confirmatory, not screening test. HIV negative: If your fourth generation test and RNA tests are both negative at 5 months after an HIV exposure, as long as you haven't had any other exposures in the meantime, then yes you would be considered HIV-negative. ...Read more

Stop testing!: You have been seriously overtested for HIV. The duo test is always positive within 4 weeks of infection. Every test after that was superfluous and a waste of money. It is past time to move on without further worry about it. ...Read more
