Hiv 1 Rna Qualitative Tma
Is 4th generation ag/ab conclusive for BOTH hiv-1 & hiv-2 after 6 months (& multiple tests before this) of unprotected sex? Is further testing needed?
Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more

Hiv-1 RNA qualitative test results after 4 months exposure accurate? Results negative. Oraquick at home HIV test negative at 4.5 months. Many symptoms

Protected sex with csw, unprotected recptive oral. What is the risk of hiv? I tested neg for syph, chla, & ghon. 28 day hiv-1 RNA test neg.
Does cobas taqman v 2 for HIV 1 RNA check for all groups N, O, P, M and all subtypes of M. If not, what it doesn't check. Please answer, Thanks?
A technical question: I am looking at the Roche website regarding this test and it says this test, "Quantifies the clinically significant HIV-1 groups and subtypes with full subtype coverage and quantifications of HIV-1 groups O and M" It is a confirmatory, not screening test. I believe you would need to contact the company if you need more specific information than this. Good wishes:) ...Read more
52 days post exposure. What test to take HIV 1 RNA PCR qualitative or quantitative. And does this test detect both HIV 1 abd 2 type?
Is a HIV ag/ab eia and a hiv-1 Rna test conclusive at 5 months? I also had a 4th gen test 3 months ago both negative. Blood was cold if that matters
I understand the p24 and hiv-1 rna test are specifically designed for hiv-1, not hiv-2. Is there any cross-reactivity with the p24 and rna for hiv-2?
HIV: Do not know which test kit was being used, but most today cover both Types 1 & 2. Check with the lab that ran the test. Good luck. ...Read more
What is the level of sensitivity of the HIV-1 RNA PCR test by Aptima? Is it accurate at 2 to 3 weeks post exposure?
Yes: Read the CDC updated recommendations on HIV testing. The rationale for this test being available is that HIV RNA is detectable in plasma before antibodies. A safe approach is to be tested after the eclipse period after potential exposure when no RNA nor antibodies to HIV can be detected. The RNA test is effective around 10 days after infection but seroconversion to antibodies may take 3 months. ...Read more
Hi I had HIV-1 rna pcr @ 5 wks & 5 mths & HIV ag/ab DUO at 1, 2, 4 & 6 mths. Do I need further testing for HIV-2 or am I safe? I'm in metro Detroit.
Can hiv-1 RNA PCR detect hiv-2 at some point or can not detect? If you consider Poland, can you exclude HIV possibility with hiv-1 RNA PCR test only?
HIV Online: We are very experienced here with what we call HIV panic. There is little we will say that will ease your panic. HIV 1 in the disease you are at risk for in Poland in general. Your HIV RNA test is negative. If you cannot get past this worry then go get an HIV 1/2 antibody test with the P24 antigen test as well. Then test every twelve weeks. And if you are at risk get on Truvada (emtricitabine and tenofovir) to prevent. ...Read more
Hi, had HIV-1 rna pcr @ 5 weeks & 5 months. And HIV ag/ab DUO at 1, 2, 4 & 6 months. Do I need further testing for HIV or do I need HIV-2 pcr or did the DUO rule it out?, or is it too rare to worry about in MI? I leave in Novi, MI. Thank you
Hiv-1 RNA PCR result is undetected, worried about hiv-2 in Germany. Dr didn't see necessary to take antibody test even at w12.What should I do?
You must wait. Or get an HIV 1/2 antibody test but know you will have to repeat it in the future. At twelve weeks it cannot be 100% accurate.
in the future if you have a high risk exposure there is a treatment to prevent infection if started within 72 hours. If you have repeated high risk exposures there is a treatment to take before exposure to prevent infection. ...Read more
Is a 12th day Negative on HIV 1 RNA test considered reliable (enough for me to not worry for a while). What are the chances of HIV 2? I still have symptoms like swollen neck lymph node and stiff neck
Need more info: To give an answer to your question more information is needed. Did you recently start medications to treat hiv, then the answer is after about 1-2 months. Did you recently engage in a high risk activity, such as unprotected anal intercourse? In that case, I would advise first and foremost to use protection in the future and to be tested as soon as possible. Hiv may show up as soon as 7-10 days. ...Read more
Xposr was in pattaya wth a csw. Sufrd all smptms. But negtv HIV 1/2 RNA n cmia duo at 8 mths. Could it be subtype e can all ths tsts done detct it?
You do not have HIV:
Please. You are driving yourself insane. Your symptoms, described in numerous earlier questions, do not in any way represent an HIV infection. You wore a condom.
I am not sure if this is guilt or shame causing you so much pain. I don't know if your physical symptoms are all derived from your stress over this event.
I can tell you with significant expertise that you are not HIV positive. ...Read more
Inother words would RNA PCR for HIV 1 n cmia duo detect subtype e and other rare subtypes also at 8 months post exposure in thailand. ..Many smptms?
Can verify: You'll need to place a call to the lab to be sure they are testing for the rare subtypes, and you have every right to do this. However, if you have "many symptoms" and your only risky exposure was eight months ago, then your symptoms are not due to hiv, as it would be latent at this stage. I suspect you've got a bad case of the "nerves" -- I've had it too, and learned from it. Stay well. ...Read more
Would RNA PCR for HIV 1 n cmia duo detect subtype e n other rare subtypes also at 8 months post xposr n thailnd. Many smptms? Negative result coclusive?
Yes, but...: The latest pcr tests for HIV should be able to detect the rarer subtypes, but in life, no test is perfect. Life is about chances (probabilities, likelihoods), so if it has been 8 months since a known high risk exposure to HIV and one's primary doctor (or infectious diseases doctor) has done adequate testing, then negative results mean one did not catch HIV that time. Keep in touch with the doctor. ...Read more

Not for HIV: It would help to know your risk factors for acquiring HIV, but, regardless, absence if viral DNA after 4 months followed by absence of HIV antibody at 5 months means that we're 99.9% certain you haven't acquired the HIV virus. However, you need to follow up with your doctor about the swollen lymph nodes. ...Read more
