Hard to damage: Cartilage, since it's a bit more forgiving than bone. The base of the bone is what's connected to the skull, and you are probably alright, just experiencing some inflammation, and swelling from the bruise. They swell up and are more easily irritated for several weeks after trauma so that blood in the mucus can occur for 3 to 6 weeks afterwards.
