Can CMV virus and type 2 diabetes together make the HIV western blot and PCR viral load tests false positive for hiv?
I'm hebs ag negative with a high anti hbs antibody from vaccination. This week's test was reported as hebs ag detected with anti hbs antibody of 513 miu/ml. Lft normal....Scared....Lab error?
Yes: That sounds like lab error. Your hbsab would provide immunity; i'm assuming yoru hbcab (core) is negative; i wouldn't worry, talk to your doctor about a retest if you are concerned, but even if you were infected, there is no reason for treatment at this time. ...Read more
Yes, but complicated: Trying to tell whether a person has HIV-1, HIV-2, or both, can get complicated. If a person has high risk exposures or has symptoms, he can see an HIV Infectious Disease doctor and trust the advice, but follow-up as instructed. There are many different tests (usually by various manufacturers) in different parts of the world, which happen to have different prevalences for various HIV strains. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes it does: The ARCHITECT HIV Ag/Ab Combo assay is a chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) for the simultaneous qualitative detection of HIV p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV type 1 (M and group O) and/or type 2 (HIV-2) in human serum and plasma. This assay does not distinguish between the detection of HIV-1 p24 antigen, HIV-1 antibody, or HIV-2 antibody...just a positive or negative result. ...Read more

HIV NEGATIVE combo (antibody + antigen) tests at 4,6,10,13,14 weeks and PCR RNA VL UNDETECTED (14 weeks) white tongue, chronic pharyngitis. Am I HIV-?
You are HIV negative: Listen, man. Stop doing this to yourself. Get to an otolaryngologist and see if you have a post-nasal drip, maybe heavy snoring without realizing it, or some actual serious illness. Try scraping the stuff off your tongue with a piece of dental floss; if it's still white patches, ask your dentist's opinion also. But please get over these HIV fears. Maybe even be thankful for having shared love. ...Read more

Only indicates you..: Indicates you've had mono. The mono virus is permanently inserted into your b-lymphocytes and hepatocytes (liver tissue) forever! legacy of the "kissing disease! however, you did not specify your titer of "early antigen, " which can indicate chronic mono. See if this test was done! but form the data you present, nothing is abnormal and indicates you have had mono in the past! ...Read more
My alt/ast enzymes are elevated and i tested positive for mitochondrial m2 ab IgG (34.6) antibodies. Is this a definitive diagnosis of pbc?
No: What's the titer? Does this match your symptoms / signs / other labs? Even the big fancy commercial labs make mistakes with these. ...Read more
What's the normal range in percentage for cd3, cd4, cd8, cd5, cd19 and cd20 antigens in peripheral blood for female adults?
Why do you ask?: You are of course talking about percentages of either all white blood cells or of lymphocytes. This question does not arise in general clinical medicine, and if someone has offered this to you without a strong suspicion of immunodeficiency or leukemia, you need to insist on an explanation. And in such workups, the search is either for a mutant clone or a grave deficiency; percentages are moot. ...Read more
EBV early antigen Ab, IgG <9; EBV Eb, VcA, IgG >600; EBV nuclear antigen Ab IgG 108. Diagnossed with CAEBV infection. Does this sound right to you?
Maybe.: The profile is of a past infection. I am not sure if it can be diagnosed just by symptoms and evidence of past infection. I think you would need the second criteria of diagnosis which is DNA of EBV in peripheral tissue or blood detectable through PCR test with a low anti-EA. What are some causes of an over active immune system with a monoclonal T cell Beta gene receptor finding ? Have tested negative for Ana / RA / viruses
No simple answer.: t-cell receptor studies prove clonality, meaning an expansion of a single line of T-cells, a kind of immune system cell. The test is mainly used to confirm the presence of T-cell cancers, but is not sufficient for cancer diagnosis because it's too sensitive and not specific. Anything that stimulates the immune system, infections, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory states, will produce a positive. ...Read more

Lung infiltrate should have a culture and sensitivity? Antibodics without culture-sensitivity? O.K.?

What is the significance of positive mycoplasma IgG and IgM antibody titers in patients with dysautonomia or pots and chronic fatigue?
Uncertain: Research to answer this question has not yet been satisfactorily performed. There are several illnesses with which mycoplasmal infection has purported to have been associated, including coronary artery disease. Antibodies to this organism, whether igg or igm do not prove active infection, to say nothing about causation of other illnesses. The theory is interesting and deserves further study. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Lmphocytes 53%, CMV -ve, EBV IgM neg and IgG +ve 9.5 Eu/ml Doctor diagnosed me with EBV. Very tired and swollen lymph nodes for two months. Opinions?
Diagnosis in doubt: No offense to ur doc, but I would want to answer other questions of importance. Your lab tests show indeed u were infected with EBV like 95% of us. What's more important is 'could this be anything else'? For that I might even want a lymph node under the microscope. Sounds like u need relief & I would want an accurate diagnosis before I told u just wait another month or 2. Mono is a teenager's dz. ...Read more
