This may be related to the fact that Metoclopramide blocks the brain chemical, Dopamine which results in increased prolactin, which is a hormone secreted from the pituitary gland. Hirsutism and metoclorpramid? I am worried, my dr will not say. Gyn say polycysticod but regular cycle? Do want right treatment, are there any test see?

Dx of PCOS: Diagnosis of pcos nowadays is not tricky. Need 2 of 3 criteria (some groups require 3/3): 1) irregular/skipped periods, 2) polycystic appearance of ovaries on us, 3) serum evidence of elevated androgen (may also allow clinical evidence, such as hirsutism.) almost all experts agree that irregular/missed periods are required for diagnosis, though. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Yes: This drug has some activity in blocking the male hormone receptors and is moderately effective for hirsutism. At the usual doses it has no major side effects and does not cause weight gain. I've had pcos since puberty, it has been untreated for the last 10yrs. After losing weight my periods have become regular. Will the excess hair & deep voice likely resolve themselves too? Treatments?

I've had pcos since puberty, it has been untreated for the last 10yrs. After losing weight my periods have become regular. Will the excess hair & deep voice likely resolve themselves too? Treatments?

Maybe: Voice may change slightly; if not, make sure lab has normalized and doesn't need further treatment. Hair growth may decrease in rate of growth; male hair may be less likely to spread to other areas, but once hair follicle is masculinized by higher male hormone levels, it never changes back. Only laser or electrolysis can remove it but expensive. Metformin help further lower Insulin resistance. ...Read more
