What do you do for hip synovitis?

Rest, meds, PT, u/s: Tendinitis/bursistis of hip often results of over use/trauma and the first thing to do is take it easy/rest a bit. Antiinflammatory meds such as aleve/motrin may help. Physical therapy/gentle stretching/rom exercises. Iontophoresis ultrasounds therapy, topical meds etc...May help quite a bit as well. So, if doing on your own not enough, consult doc for possible injection. Good luck. ...Read more

Unusual: If there is a bacterial infection causing the synovitis, a fever will likely be present but even worse would be the severe pain in the hip. More commonly, synovitis is due to local irritation within the joint, such as a labral tear. The symptoms would be pain, some stiffness, and irritability of the hip with movement. ...Read more
