See details: You either have eds or you don't. If you do not, it is not related to your brother's issue. Has your hip been evaluated and x rays and/or MRI been done if it is truly a hip joint issue? If not, see an orthopedist. ...Read more

See an Orthopod/PCP: To get worked up and a DX could be reached, so treatment could be started. I don't know of any connection between sitting cross legged ; hip pain. It probably relates to your profession or what you have been doing all day. A back or hip lesion could be responsible for it, ; I am sure your docs would be able to help you. Good luck. Possible arthritis: You should be evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of hip pain. Positional pain such as you describe is often due to an arthritic process. Sitting places the hip in more flexion, and slouchiing, though bad for overall posture, decreases the bendingat the hip. The injury/arthritis is likely in the anterior or front of the hip. Where on the hip: This may be bursitis if it is on the outside of the pelvis. Hip pain is usually felt in the groin. You need to discuss with your physician. Imaging of the pelvis and this hip can clarify some of your issues. It could shown certain types of hip arthritis. Left hip pain at night and after sitting down after work. Pain in hip and shoots down leg at times. Worse at night in bed. No injury as far as I know.

Left hip pain: May be scaitica. Sitting is stress on spine. Consider ergonomic chair with lumbar support. At work change position ( i.e. get up for a moment every 45 minutes to an hour) to shake out, Consider a trial of NSAIDS ( motrin/alelve ) and muscle relaxant( if not allergic). Rarely may also be related to ovaries/ colon, retroperitoneal issue so may consider ultrasound or CT abdomen. f/u w/ doc ...Read more
