Left hip pain: May be scaitica. Sitting is stress on spine. Consider ergonomic chair with lumbar support. At work change position (i.e. get up for a moment every 45 minutes to an hour) to shake out, Consider a trial of NSAIDS (motrin/alelve) and muscle relaxant (if not allergic). Sciatica?: Could be sciatica, but please reread the HealthTap policy on public questions: Doctors' answers to public questions are not intended for diagnosis, treatment or prescription. You're asking for a diagnosis. My reply to your post is not a diagnosis, just a suggestion of a possibility. For a real diagnosis, HealthTap is not a substitute for a live doctor in a brick-and-mortar office.

Possibly a sciatica: A sciatica is caused by an irritation of a nerve in the back that then can cause pain that runs down the leg like you are describing. There are also potentially other causes as well. Usually a detailed history and exam can determine the cause. Thank you for your question.

Bulging disc in lower back. Right side hip pain and sciatic shooting pains down legs. Medications or non surgical treatments for relief?

Bulging disc in lower back. Right side hip pain and sciatic shooting pains down legs. Medications or non surgical treatments for relief?

USUALLY: Over 90% of bulging discs with sciatica will get better without surgery. Non-surgical treatments (PT, Chiro, etc) along with either medications (NSAIDs or short burst of oral steroids) and possibly Epidural steroid injection should take care of most.

Sounds like: A prolapsed or herniated disc at L4-5 You need to see your PCP first and a possible referral for Physical Therapy and or referral to Spine Specialists! Many Hospitals have "Spine Units" where all the specialists are available as well as activity directed rehabilitation! Hope this helps! Dr Z

I'm having pain in right hip lower back shoots pain down right leg?

I'm having pain in right hip lower back shoots pain down right leg?

Sciatica: It sounds like inflammation of the sciatic nerve, which runs down your leg. Anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen, and a heating pad to the area should help, but if they are not, you should see your doctor. Steroids can help with it, but they can tell if it is a more serious problem.

Possible piriformis? Got pain from hips shooting down legs used to work out ever then stop after that prolonged sitting...Mri clear

Could be priformis: What your describing could be piriformis syndrome. This is one fo the small muscles of the hip that can compress the sciatic nerve and can cause pain down the leg. It's also possible that it's coming from your back. Can try a course of therapy, and occasionally an injection around the piriformis muscle can help.

I have severe hip pain and can hardy move my left leg. I have constant shooting pain from hip down. I also have back pain What should I do?

Disc disease/injury: Low back pain radiating down the leg is called sciatica. Given the severity of your complaint, you need to be evaluated by a local doctor, get an xray, and go to physical therapy and take ibuprofen or Naproxen for a month. If not improved, then get an MRI. If exam warrants an MRI early on, your local doctor will get it ordered.

I am experiencing hip pain, low back pain, knee pain and pain shooting down the leg. The following also describe me: Back pain, Leg numbness, Leg. ..

Multifactorial pain: Without exam/MRI difficult to label your pains. Low back, hip, leg pain and numbness clearly CAN be related to indicate disc problems in the low back with resultant discogenic and radicular pain. Ibuprofen/naproxen/acetaminophen can help some pain. For diagnosis/treatment, you need a lumbar spine MRI and formal evaluation to see if all problems tie together. Treatment possible. Good luck!

I have hip pain all the time now. When I sit in a car or chair for about 1/2 hour I can barely walk. The leg has an achy feeling all the way down.?

Hip arthritis.: May people say they have hip pain when they really have back pain. If your pain is in the groin and radiates down the front of the thigh, it is likely your hip. You need to see your doctor and obtain appropriate x rays.

Hip pain that runs down the front of the leg especially when walking?

Hip pain that runs down the front of the leg especially when walking?

Consult your doctor: It could possibly be from a lumbar spinal condition -- like a "pinched nerve"-- your doctor will have to examine you to rule this out. A few other things could cause your complaint.
