Hip Knee And Ankle Pain
I have been having extreme hip, knee and ankle pain but no swelling. My daughter has lupus and I have been tested 4 times but my blood work comes back?
Varies: There are a lot of potential causes; usually it is some structural problem in these areas, or a radicular pain from a "pinched nerve" in the back, or an inflammatory condition. A detailed exam and appropriate studies can usually determine the cause. Don't hesitate to get a second opinion if they are having trouble coming up with a diagnosis.
Likely: Get checked by neurologist. May need some tests run like nerve conduction study.
Rain and pain: There are any number of persons that are barometers - when the weather changes they can feel it. Sometimes painfully. See your orthopedist or rheumatologist for assistance.See 1 more doctor answer
Ache on outside of one leg from hip to ankle. Knee has some pain as well especially when bending. No swelling.
Sciatica: Sciatica can have the symptoms you are describing; the pain can begin in the gluteals then travel down the side of the leg behind the knee into the foot. You must stretch the area with Bands, use ice first than heat and take anti inflammatory medications. Foot orthotics may help too by stabilizing your hair. Daily stretching pre and post work outs are important.
Left hip and knee, ankle, arch of foot, pain, mussel cramps what is wrong? Numb, tingling, weakness, sitting or standing
Sounds like a nerve: Issue, ie, spine lesion in the lower back. The areas you have problems with are from L1 level down to l5-s1. So get checked by pcp and possible referral to a spine doc /orthopod. You probably have arthritis (spondylitis) with some disc lesions. Avoid bending, lifting heavy weight, including grand kids. Do regular exercises within limits of discomfort. Losing wt + nsaids 4 pain, a ms relaxer also.See 1 more doctor answer
Pain in inner knees, outer hips, & back ankle. Hips and ankle pain is new. How should I approach my dr? Have had several xrays and mris in the past.
See your doctor: Make a list of all of your symptoms, when they occur, things they may be related to, what relieves them and whether this is changes in position, medications, etc. This will give them a better heads up on what to look for. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.See 1 more doctor answer

What would cause hip to ankle pain that moves up and down on left leg. Been taking muscle relaxors, no help. Had it exrayed. No help. Went to massuse. Didn, t think it was siattica. Don, t know where to turn next. Any suggestions?
Sciatica: Pain in the distribution as you suggested describes the pattern of the nerve that travels in the leg called the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is not the cause of the pain source, it is the result of an irritated nerve typically in the lumbar spine (low back) which are caused by herniated disks, spinal stenosis or degenerative disc disease requiring further evaluation by a spine specialist.See 1 more doctor answer
Unlikely: Unlikely unless he patient is routinely taking meds like narcotics which can be constipating.See 1 more doctor answer
Burning pain above heel. Swelling beneath outer ankle. Pain increases when walkin especially on incomes or stairs. Heaviness and leg weakness to hip?
Problems linked?: Heaviness of the leg and hip weakness may be due to a back problem (L 3-4). This would not cause pain in the ankle (local process if there truly is some swelling) I would have the muscle CPK checked (on statin drug) the weakness in the legs is typically symmetrical if due to statin drugs but can be noticed on one side initially. If these problems persist you will need to be examined.
Get evaluated: Several things could be going on. Cold feet can be a result of poor blood flow. This can cause pain in an extremity. Another possibility is nerve damage which could cause you to believe your foot is cold. Finally, the pain and cold symptoms may be unrelated. Either way, an evaluation by your primary care physician would be a good place to start.
Get it looked at: By an orthopedic doctor if it's involving your knee, ankle, and foot. If it's just your foot and ankle, a podiatrist can look at it. It could be many things so a good history of how and when it bothers you will help the doctor find the right diagnosis and proper treatment
I wake up from knee and ankle pain after about 1/2 hour of sleep. What maybe causing or release of pain?
Varies: There are a number of potential causes. If it is causing you enough trouble, I would encourage you to be seen. One common cause is a "sciatica" which is an irritation of the nerves in the back that can cause pain that runs from the knee to the ankle, but there are many other causes as well. Many of which have a pretty simple cure.
12 yr old complains of knee and ankle pain when sitting. Not all the time. Could it be growing pains?
Doubtful.: Growing pains usually stop by age 7. Knee pain in this age group is usually Osgood-Schlatter's syndrome. Ankle pain in this age group is usually Sever's apophysitis. Both conditions are stress fractures to growth cartilage. Both happen in highly active kids. Both heal with rest and stretching.See 1 more doctor answer
