Hip arthritis?: It is obviously difficult to say what is wrong wthout examining you.... However your symptoms suggest early hip arthritis. Pain in your groin and 'deep'in your hip with weight -bearing suggest early hip osteoarthritis especially w/ pivoting maneuvers.I would suggest seeing a board certified orthopedic surgeon for examination and X-rays . Bursitis?: Hip pain that wakes you at night is classically bursitis, but you will need a physical exam to be sure. A steroid injection into your great troch bursa will help this if that is what it is. Nsaids may also benefit, but speak with your physician prior. Stretch your it band and your hamstrings to help. If pain is on the side, it may be bursitis. If pain is in the butt, other possibilities.
