Hard to say: There is certainly some component of a contusion to the hip they may take even several weeks to heal in some cases. On the other hand, be aware that if you have simply had a negative xray for fracture and were then told you had a contusion, there could be more involved in your injury, an xray is not terribly sensative. Icing should help with swelling and stop bruising from getting worse.
