Not likely: Groin pain that is tender is more likely tendonitis or muscle strain injury. Hip bursitis is much more common on the 'outside' of your hip (greater trochanter)and usually is painful to sleep on the affected side. Most exercises okay: Avoid exercises that will cause your legs to cross in any way, even if just a little. This causes tension over the greater trochanter. Also avoid any exercise that causes any increase in pain, as this could suggest increasing inflammation. Stretch your it band and include massage on your lower it band to loosen. No: The injection you will receive for troch bursitis will have steroids in it more than likely, but the single dose given locally does not normally have much systemic effect at all.
