A decrease of white blood cells in the blood (agranulocytosis) may occur. Symptoms and signs of agranulocytosis include infectious lesions of the throat, the gastrointestinal tract, and skin with an overall feeling of illness and fever. Other Labs?: I hope your thyroid has been checked and is normal. Although typically those with low thyroid causing weight gain are short and you are rather tall! It is probably a simple matter of more calories taken in than you are burning off which is putting you in a positive calorie balance resulting in weight gain. These are: Lowish but not low enough to do anything but repeat the test. The issue is why were they drawn? Higher WBC counts indicate infection, low counts of one element ( red cell, white cell or platelets) can be a variety of things for each from lack of production to excess destruction, to crowding out by other things. How long?: How long have your platelets been elevated? Any lymph nodes felt? Is your white blood count elevated? A lot of missing information. Any night sweats? Given your age, certain things can be ruled out but would consider doing a bone marrow biopsy. Why did you have a liver biopsy if spleen big? Was there a concern for cirrhosis? Need more information.
