Recurring utis, lower left back pain under rib cage, high white blood cell count in urine, nausea, weakness. Causes?

Pyelonephritis: It sounds like you have pyelonephritis/ renal infection. You could have infected kidney stones or an obstructing ureteral stone. You could have vessico-ureteral reflux or a large post void bladder residual. I would recommend that you see a urologist and get a renal/bladder ultrasound and voiding cysto-urethrogram. Does high white cell count 15.4 and headaches on and off for 6 weeks always indicate leukemia? Or could there still be other causes?

Absolutely not: You can raise your white count to 20,000 by spending a half hour swimming in cold water. If the cells are normally formed, and the rest of your blood count is reasonable, look around for some other cause; you may not find one. Look for a cause of headaches as well -- it may be as simple as needing new eyeglasses. Good luck. ...Read more

Is it possible that a high white cell count be caused by c.O.P.D, a pituitary gland tumour, or female problems?

How high?: A small elevation in the total white count may be perfectly healthy -- reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside at either end. It's more important to know what the white cells look like, and whether any are abnormal. As a pathologist / lab specialist, i'm always telling folks, "look at the person, not the labs.". ...Read more
